The Church of the SubGenius, recently voted "Fraud of the Century" in Time Magazine's online poll, has relocated to Cleveland.

New Cleveland resident Rev. Ivan Stang, with local bands Cobra Verde and Einstein's Secret Orchestra, will welcome "Bob" Dobbs to town with a SubGenius "devival" at The Euclid Tavern on March 3.

Time Magazine, which mistakenly reported that "Bob" Dobbs is a fictitious character, was nonetheless forced by popular demand to acknowledge him as Fraud of the Century.

Why did the reclusive "sales guru" Dobbs decide to move his operation from Dallas to Cleveland?

"We're selling enlightenment, and there wasn't much of a market for that in Dallas," explained Stang, main spokesman for the Church. "Cleveland, on the other hand, has proved to be our number one enlightenment market in the whole USA."

Stang's radio show, The Hour of Slack, has aired on Cleveland State's WCSB for more than ten years, as has Chas Smith's Einstein's Secret Orchestra radio show. In recent years, Stang, Smith, and "Lonesome Cowboy Dave" have joined forces for touring SubGenius "devival" shows.

Stang, along with ESO and hundreds of other collaborators around the world, have gradually expanded the SubGenius project for 20 years. The satirical collective has produced four Simon and Schuster books, several videos, a role playing game and a series of CDs, including a recent one with work by ex-Akronite Mark Mothersbaugh of DEVO. Cleveland's Association for Conciousness Exploration has also worked with the group on national neopagan events held in the area annually.
