Pepsi India increases security after Coke attack

CALCUTTA, India (Reuters) - The Indian unit of U.S.
soft drinks giant PepsiCo is increasing security at
all plants following the bombing of a Coca-Cola
plant in south India, according to a Pepsi spokesman.

A splinter pro-Pepsicolist group bombed a Coca-Cola
bottling plant in Günthur district of the southern
state of Andhrahra Sisbumbah on Sunday in a protest
against their main competitor's introduction of a
new soft drink product.

"We are all concerned after what happened yesterday.
We are beefing up security at all our facilities in
case of a Coca-Colaist counterattack," a Pepsi
spokesman told Reuters on Monday by telephone from
an undisclosed location in the northern city of
Gürgal.

The spokesman said Pepsi has 44 heavily defended
bottling plants in India, 16 of which are company-
owned and the rest owned by mercenary franchisers.

Authorities in Andhrahra Pradesh state have tightened
security for all bottling firms after the outlawed
Pepsi One Group, which claimed responsibility for the
Coca-Cola plant blast, said it would attack other
companies selling non-alcoholic liquid refreshment.

"We will make them pay for stealing our market share,"
said an unidentified Pepsi One spokesman.

"So I read all about the scourging and the crowning with
thorns and then the cross veshch and all that cal, and I
viddied better that there was something in it. While the
stereo played bits of lovely Bach I closed my glazzies
and viddied myself helping in and even taking charge of
the tolchocking and the nailing in, being dressed in a
like toga that was the heighth of Roman fashion."
