Your Holiness,

I am follower of "Bob" and an ordained member of "his" Church. I am also an associate professor of psychology at Oberlin College who specializes in psychophysiology. As a way spreading the knowledge of "Bob" to my students, I have been known to employ his glorious image in some of my lecture material. In particular, the sacred Dobbshead is an excellent way to display the appropriate placement of the recording sensors used in our research. I am attaching two examples: One shows "Bob" preparing for an EEG recording session, and the other shows him decked out for an acoustic startle response experiment. Compare the glory of the latter image (praise "Bob"!) to the boring line drawing that I used previously.

Anyway: Thus far I have only used the sacred (and trademarked) Dobbshead in my personal lecture materials. However, I maintain a course website (<http://www.oberlin.edu/psych/p305/>http://www.oberlin.edu/psych/p305/) which is frequented by my students and various academic psychophysiology geeks worldwide. I post detailed laboratory instructions on this site which are sometimes accompanied by the aforementioned cheesy line drawings illustrating electrode placements (see, for example, <http://www.oberlin.edu/psych/p305/labs/Lab5.html>http://www.oberlin.edu/psych/p305/labs/Lab5.html). I feel that these pages would be dramatically improved by replacing the line drawings with the awe-inspiring visage of "Bob." I do not wish to offend the Church or incur the Wrath of the Lawyers of Dobbs by doing so, however.

So, I most humbly request your permission to modify and display the Dobbshead on my course website, as indicated. Give me permission--and slack--or kill me.

Thank you for entertaining this request.

In slack,

Al
