After watching the 9/11 show on CBS last night, I came to a DRAMATIC
CONCLUSION!
Basically, Forbidden Planet is HERE NOW.
We have as a society, in fact, developed the modalities whereby we can
have anything we want. Just not overnight in all cases. Want a 110
story building? Shit, no problem, takes about 8 years and only part of
an easy-to-come by billion or so.
But wait! Piss off the Id monster and BOOM, a big fully loaded jumbo
jet smokes them. Monsters from the id, Islamic extremists, get the
parallel? The unbridled primitive. An inexhaustible source of power
and manufacturing prowess PLUS a belief system that wants it all
destroyed in the name of an invisible being who you can't fucking please
enough no matter how much you torture yourself and others.
The lucky amongst us get to learn math. The unlucky ones have to live
in the AFTERMATH.
Only on this Forbidden Planet can you turn to CNN to hear a band named
".38 Special" sing a memorial song about love and peace and
understanding. Boy, howdy, where's Leslie Nielsen when you REALLY need
him?
