Information WANTS To Be Free

Looks like somebody is selling copies of the Church Media CD's for $1.99 on
eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1774937407

Not to mention using slews of Church art in their eBay listing.

Obviously a disgruntled SubGenius. He lives in the Atlanta
area, plays Nintendo, needs books on how to attract women,
likes hotrods, is prompt and thorough, uses all caps to
reply to critical email, and is a good salesman.

As if someone will want to pay for it, when they can get it from
SubSite for free? Or from alt.binaries.slack.

>>eBay

Egad, the Santa Pic is one of my works of art. Featuring my very own
replacement unit there wearing the Bob's head. Dang, that gives me a
creepy feeling.

Imagine my surprise when I recognized his shirt and so on. Damned
picture felchers, he felched that pic, he did, and now he can felch me.
Unless he's kicking some of the money he makes back up to the Church.
Then that would be OK.

Funny, but somehow I expect some of my artwork to end up in some alien
civilization. You know, sent as unauthorized payload on one of those I
MAN explorers. Some joker at NASA buys one of this guys discs and
tosses it aboard the interstellar explorer thing. I just hope they have
the means to send in their $30. And not in a billion years, either.
Can't wait that long.

Really. If somebody wants to give this illiterate $2 for a couple of
hundred pieces of artwork and Wei's old photos of Burning Man, all of
which is easily available on SubSITE, it seems like it would be cruel
for me to step in there and say No.

It's only got 25 mb of shit on it! Cripes, the SubSITE CD-R has 650 mb
on it and only costs $15.

Sounds just like Rev. Aaron...? No, he moved.

Could be his little buddy "Yohan."

The subgenius.net guys used to do stuff like this in the Day. You can
still download an unplayable version of ARISE from them, last I
checked.

There are a lot of lurkers out there who would never ever have the
nerve to so much as write a letter to the famous superstars of the
SubGenius like you or me, but they figure we'll notice them if they rip
us off. Look at it as a compliment. You thought you were just doing
that art for fun and yuks, and this guy thinks it's worth money!

Eventually it WILL be worth money, thanks to collector geeks!

Our names will be remembered forever, but no one will remember the
names of our distributors. You know that has to bug them.

Sounds like a viable eBay product to me.

Would that automated auction software pawn shops use be enough to
make it practical to sell SubG lore on ebay?

looks like SOMEBODY "updated" it, you had best go check it out PRONTO before
they yank it.

That was entirely Blackout's idea -- he noticed that the guy had the
nerve to be sapping our bandwidth as well as our (much cheaper)
intellectual property, and suggested the swap.

Luckily Rev. Two Beans had JUST created a simple new front page, so
those previously untouchable old home page illos were suddenly
expendable. Also, I had just been sorting the FILTH section of the
a.b.s. art and so had right handy the fine buttfuck art by Nenslo
(making fun of Asquire at the time actually) and the poo splat by
IMBJR.

I filled out their infringement form thing and faxed it to them this
afternoon, and about an hour later they emailed me that it was gone. I
was kinda sorry to see it go actually. Luckily I got a "web archive"
copy and lots of giant screen shots.

If he hadn't have been stealing our BANDWIDTH, and had just left it at
our ARTWORK, it wouldn't have been worth fussing with.

Sure was good for laughs though. Thanks to Blackout for the very idea.

There's nothing hypocritical about it at all. They can have Slack. They
just can't have OUR Slack.
