No Pipes? Not Art.

Call back when you get your Dobbshead working.

Sans Dobbsheads, these pictures might as well be blank gray squares to
me.

Oh how I pity you.

Thanks - the odd thing is... the images that get the most viewings are
EXACTLY the same old tired shit. I really can't figure that out. And
when it's like three glass spheres on a chessboard the numbers go over
the top. WHY??? Anyway I'm glad if twenty people see my pics.

It's not hard to figure at all. Most of the folks at Renderosity EMBRACE
the same tired old shit. There's a small subculture of them, however, that
are really tired of the same tired old shit, and are always looking for
something fresh and new that isn't just a rehash of the Boris Vallejo/Frank
Frazette/Naked Woman with a Sword and Magic Helmet genre.

I'd be wary of interacting with the natives, Nenslo. Given your
cantankerous nature and your history of intolerance towards whiners and
imbeciles, I can see you giving these people both barrels in pretty short
order...because there's a raging pack of them to be found at Renderosity.

Many of them there consider themselves "serious artists", when in fact they
are only recognized among the other people who frequent that website. It's
a very masturbatory and inbred place, like a virtual Arkansas. Many of
them hate my guts there because I had "outsiders" come in and vote me
Artist of the Month back in March...as if having fans of my work outside
the boundaries of Renderosity is some great sin.

If you really want a peek into their minds, Nenslo, I suggest you check out
the most commented image on the site...one of mine. That place is my ant
farm.

David Lynch:

"I sort of go by a duck when I work on a film because if you study a duck, you'll see
certain things. You'll see a bill, and the bill is a certain texture and a certain length.
Then you'll see a head, and the features on the head are a certain texture and it's
a certain shape and it goes into the neck. The texture of the bill for instance is very
smooth and it has quite precise detail in it and it reminds you somewhat of the legs.
The legs are a little bit bigger and a little more rubbery but it's enough so that your
eye goes back and forth. Now, the body being so big, it can be softer and the texture
is not so detailed, it's just kind of a cloud. And the key to the whole duck is the eye and where the eye is placed. And it has to be placed in the head and it's the most detailed, and it's like a little jewel. And if it was fixed, sitting on the bill, it would be two things that were too busy, battling, they would not do so well. And if it was sitting in the middle of the body, it would get lost. But it's so perfectly placed to show off a jewel right in the middle of the head like that, next to this S-curve with the bill sitting out in front, but with enough distance so that the eye is very very very well secluded and set out. So when you're working on a film, a lot of times you can get the bill and the legs and the body and everything, but this eye of the duck is a certain scene, this jewel, that if it's there, it's absolutely beautiful. It's just fantastic." "Film exists because we can go and have experiences that would be pretty dangerous or strange for us in real life. We can
go into a room and walk int
o a dream. If we didn't want to upset anyone, we would make films about sewing, but
even that could be dangerous. But I think finally, in a film, it is how the balance is and
the feelings are. But I think there has to be those contrasts and strong things withing a
film for the total experience." ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks, Joe. There's actually a story behind that one. One of the members
at Renderosity asked if there was a Poser model of a nun to be found, and
several members posted images of nun's they'd created. So I decided to take
a crack at it. I made a Poser nun, and when I looked at it, I realized,
"You dumb fuck. You fell into the trap. This doesn't look like a nun at
all, it looks like some bullshit teenage comic-book jerk-off fantasy of a
nun."

I was so ashamed that I'd created such a monstrosity, that I immediately
scrapped it in favor of that stern, withered hag that more resembled a
real nun.
