Ever had the urge to put dusty pebbles in your mouth? I loved doing that when I was a kid - clay dust tastes good! Lately I've thought about that taste - for the first time in like 30 years - and I wonder if I could have a dietary deficiency. Maybe if I ate some potato skins?

America like the cheese that bears its name leaves much to be desired

Bands impress me more by what they can convey with nonsense syllables than
wordy prose so I prefer Yes to Rush

"Geophagy" (wanting to eat dirt) is a bona-fide fetish shared by many others in the world, so I'm sure you can find a club to give you tips and tricks on the best soils and such. According to this website http://www.eating-disorder.org/pica.html it's an eating disorder, but I've heard of people who do just do it for kicks. The website says that "While Pica [eating non-food items] can be harmless, ingestion of contaminated material could lead to death." (duh!) I don't think it's particularly bad for you as long as the dirt doesn't come from a farmyard. You might have a vitamin deficiency, but I heard that that whole "cravings = deficiency" idea was just discredited and that now scientists think people just crave things for no particular reason. But what the hell, take vitamins anyway, they're good for you!

Thanks SubGenius Answerfolkyetisyns - and BTW - one can get the same tasty effect from pebbles that have been scrubbed clean with antibacterial soap. No dirt required.
