Hello again, everyone!

You can ask 10 different people how to permanently remove the paper trail on deleted emails and you'll get 10 different answers.

In appreciation of keeping this short, I'll just give you the top 2 suggestions and then I would like comments from the best of the best...right here on this group.

#1-The ONLY WAY to permanently remove ALL INFORMATION from your hard-drive - is to use a "zero disk" to OVER-WRITE EVERY BIT with "zeros".

(sounds good but where do you go to get the software to do this and can a monkey un derstand it?

#2-Defrag immediately after deleting the email ( I guess that just pertains to Outlook Express) of concern and that the defrag will write over it? Does that sound right?

What say you experts?

Thanks

If you never want to worry about e-mails ever again, try this:

1)Take a look at the back of your Computer. There should be a set of phillips head screws holding the cover on the case. Remove the screws. Keep them in a place where you can find them.

2) Take a look around inside. You will see that everything inside can be removed, more than likely with that same screwdriver. Take everything out of the case.

3) Place all the items from inside the case in a Dishwasher. Run the parts through at least one "Pot Scrubber" cycle.

4) Reassemble the items in the case. Note: You may want to wear rubber soled shoes when you plug it back in.

Although this may seem to be a bit time consuming, there is a fairly good chance you wont have to worry about E-mail ever again.

If it is very important info, you must overwrite it many times, since the FBI and others have ways to jitter the read head to the side and pick up residual magnetic domains. If the info is really really important, you will need to demagnetize the disk and bust it up physically. Of course, if it is that important, the FBI will just fabricate some evidence, and all your hard work is for naught.
