Good News, Everyone.

Following the several hundred categorized articles, rants and text discussions that recently hit SubSITE with a good solid thud, an additional 100 megabytes of artwork, videos and games just smashed down into it with the force of a small but fast meteor.

Stang Scans
or recent DEVIVALS

I was thinking to myself how HTMLing all this (and fixing some of the art sizes and names) was such a big effort. Then I stepped back and looked at what Heart Ignition, IMBJR and LeMur had each done in only the last few months. AND I ABOUT LAKKED TO *SHIT.*

The artwork on alt.binaries.slack has not ceased to amaze me, indeed it amazes me INCREASINGLY. When my wife gets home from work we frequently "watch alt.binaries.slack" instead of TV or our manners. We're currently embarked on a scheme to somehow make money off its artists' fruits via too many Cafe Press products.

Our agent tried to get our once-publishers at Simon & Schuster to consider a full color coffee table book of the coolest SubGenius electronic color art, but, like the SubGenius audio book idea, and the SubGenius CD-Rom idea, which also made PERFECT SENSE, they didn't see the sense in it.

My next step on SubSITE will be to start REMOVING detritus from the poor swollen thing, and meanwhile make its indexing slicker and clearer.

There's a lot of art, noise, and devival reports from the receeding past that needs to be tucked away and archived somewhere less expensive, like maybe on some volunteer's server, and/or on CD-Rs that we'll sell. For instance, the entire Devivals section is about 700 mb now... just ripe for a nice nostalgic CD that people can purchase if they desperately need to relive the titties of XXX-Day, or Dr. Legume's death.

I also looked into the ancient, crumbling "Ears of "Bob" section of small audio downloads that ol' Rev. Wandarer put together. Not that anybody has even mentioned this, but I discovered that all the RA and "TrueSpeach" files have been dead since last year, when we had to erase the last of the audio on our old donated server space at UNC, the original SUNSite whence derives our website's peculiar spelling. All the RAM text links would have to be changed over via some script I'd have to write, which I've never tried, and nobody cares about most of that sound anyway, so I'll probably permanently dump a whole lot of it. That whole Ear of "Bob" layout makes NO sense. I had pointed everything towards the Hour of Slack downloads instead, which work beautifully nowadays.

The oldest, most primitive WAV files in that first Ear of "Bob" section still work, though, and they're tiny, and would probably be appreciated by old folks with old computers and slow modems, for whom all this "Internet Radio Streaming" is sci-fi. So I'll leave some WAV samples there.

Our old SubSITE CD-R is... BAD... now, so I'm thinking I'll ditch that entirely and instead sell separate "Old SubSITE" CDRs. One that's ALL the Devival History so far with some audio, one that's all old Art and Articles with other audio. I dunno. However it adds up. Only British and Australian people buy those anyway, probably because folks in the US can download all that holy material faster and easier if they want it. Furthermore, Australians and British people have much much better taste in multimedia CD-Rs than do Americans.

Most a.b.s. art from 1999 and 2000 never made it to SubSITE. Too much else going on around the office. Like it being moved every 6 months. I have a CD-Rom of all that art though, not HTMLed, just broken down by artist, that I COULD JUST SELL. So far I think I made one extra copy of it and sent it to IMBJR because I used his art on it. I might have given copies to Philo and Jesus in case Dobbs shows up and wants to see what's been happening.

Maybe I should take the current Video CDR off the Mighty prostata server, and replace it with the Just Art from 1999-2000, for crazy SubGenii and Russian bootleggers to download.

I don't know about you people but I like to fire up a graphic viewer program that will let me slide-show through pictures as fast as I want to, and then JUST STARE AT HUNDREDS OF SUBGENIUS PICTURES. It's like having gorgeous colors spray-painted directly against your retina with no cornea or lens in the way. The reason for that is the FUCKING INSANE TALENT of these arteests.

Speaking of which, there's no Nenslo collection there, because the pictures Nenslo posted since Tunnel 17 have been DOBBSHEADLESS. They're GREAT but I kind of got the impression that the Nenmaster felt he had contributed QUITE ENOUGH of his skills Churchward and would probably like to lie back and wait let some benefits reap up if they're going to. However, were Mighty Nenslo to give me permission I would nonetheless love to webbify his drearly but excellent pictures of packing boxes in storage rooms, undersea robots examining rusting toxic barrels, discarded wooden shipping pallets, etc., just on account of their keen if dismal Nensletitude.

There are other artists I haven't gotten to yet, but I will. It's an alphabet thing.

This was a FUN chore. I got into a repetitive zombie routine with it in the wee hours last night and it was a GAS. I was so tranced out on mass-htmling HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of these garish, lurid, psychedelic pictures that for me, subjectively, it was almost like re-experiencing the LSD-Speed-Thunderbird-Marlboro-Valium-film-cement "goofballs" of 1974. My index finger is killing me, though.

Pope Robert Anton Wilson has told me repeatedly, most recently just last year, that SubSITE is "the most PSYCHEDELIC website" he has ever seen. That dude has seen PLENTY of psychedelia, and you alt.binaries.slack-fux should take it as a "high" compliment. I sure did. Didn't get me off as good as those "Get-Away-With-Everything"-Ers but it was pretty good.
