Yesterday made a double batch of Linguini using my new cool folding
italian pasta rack I got at the Salvation Army for three dollars, then
cooked up half of it with a pesto, spinach and mushroom sauce, all
from scratch. Served it with some warm Kalamata Olive bread I got
from the Free Bread rack at the Seventh Day Adventist thrift shop
(they get the 2-day-old baked goods from half a dozen stores) with
some garlic and thyme butter. Then lost a game of Scrabble to Mrs.
Nenslo but not by much for once - I know more words than almost
anybody but I am not a very good strategist. Later we watched Bill
Cosby and Sidney Poitier in Uptown Saturday Night, which I got from
the library - not all that great of a movie but not totally awful
either. I always enjoy seeing Roscoe Lee Brown and some of the other
supporting artists. Then I stayed up late finishing Daumal's Mount
Analogue and reading some of A Study of Gurdjieff's Teaching by
Kenneth Walker, who is mostly talking about his experiences with
Ouspensky right now. It made me invent a stupid joke about
Gurdjieff's kid brother Hank. Just say his name.

This morning I got up late and made up another batch of granola and
kvetched at Mrs. Nenslo a little bit and that's about all.

Well, Nenslo was one of the most outstanding reverends
this Church has ever produced. He was brilliant, he was
outstanding in every way. A reverend of wit and humor.

But then he got married and became gainfully employed.

And after that, his ideas...methods...became unsound.

Unsound.

Sometimes out there, out there alone beyond the pale of any acceptable
human conduct, the temptation to play "Bob" becomes overwhelming.

When I lick myself, it's usually just a little reward for a job well
done.
