Corporate news sucks

At this time: Chechen rebels holding hundreds of hostages in a Moscow
theater shot and killed one captive and said they were ready to die
for their cause, warning Thursday that thousands more of their
comrades were "keen on dying."

But all they have on CNN is more and more blather about those two guys
arrested who *might* be the sniper.

I figure we won't see any coverage of this until the Russian army
storms the building and several hundred hostages are killed in the
crossfire.

Do not underestimate our Russian buddies on this one.
Remember that they have an inherently murderous Asiatic
streak beneath that civilized European exterior.

I would look forward to a small group of dead shooters
in short order, with minimum Russian fatalities.

When the US had people kidnapped in Lebanon, we hand
wrung and whined and whimpered and bargained for months
to little effect. So the kidnappers decided to do the
same to some Russians in Lebanon. Bad mistake.

The Russians *counter-kidnapped* a senior Mullah that
these birds respected, then promptly cut off a few
pieces and mailed them to the kidnappers with *their*
demands. The kidnappers were so shocked, they not
only released their Russian hostages, but they even
*drove* them to the Russian consulate before nightfall.

I likened to laugh my ass off when that happened.

I think it's less that we're corporate than we are geo/ethno centric.
Have you noticed the news has also pretty much ignored all the suicide
bombings in Israel, a topic I thought the media DROOLED over. As I've
said before, Americans don't care about things over THERE. Unless
it's part of THERE that has oil.

That's the Israelis own fault. They've kicked out
almost 100 foreign journalists for reporting anything
positive about the Palestians. At least they aren't
hypocritical and complain that their problems, the
suicide bombings, aren't getting any coverage.

N.B.: Christiane Amanpour of CNN is one of the most-
banned journalists around, mostly from Moslem countries.
The reason is that she talks to the women, who give
her the scoops that men wouldn't dare to do, and it
scares those governments silly.
