What he says is true, the amount of response you get on either SubG
newsgroup is in inverse proportion to how great your work is. If you
are the greatest funniest most productive artist in the world, you will
KNOW it by the fact that no one responds. If everyone responds, and
tells you you're great, that probably means you should give up and go
home. I have no clue why this is.

For instance, I download everything on this ng (through Giganews, which
carries pretty much all of all newsgroups on all planets), and I
tediously make sure each piece of art goes into a folder with the
artist's name on it. It might sit there like that for a year before I
have a fit and put 100 mb of it onto SubSITE, but eventually it goes
onto SubSITE unless it's (a) not related to SubGenius nohow (b) a real
copyright problem (c) not funny, or trite.

But that's just me.

The greatest artist of all is LeMur, but not because of his art, it's
because of his file naming protocol. Everything of his starts with
"bd_" and that makes him the Greatest Artist in my book. Subvorkian
does this too, making him (or her) truly GREAT. I can never remember to
start my files with any special prefix but I usually put my name on the
actual picture. IMBJR always names his files using "_" where blank
spaces might be, and usually uses lower case. Ignatz uses upper case
and puts "SUB" in front of a lot of files. iDRMRSR uses "@" in his file
names. Heart Ignition uses dashes between words. Espira uses blank
spaces between words, has "copy" in his JPEG names and usually signs
his stuff somehow. Legume's are always sick and perverted. Nenslo used
to sign stuff with a cool logo of his, back before he filled in his
Third Nostril with oil paints and glue.

I rarely stop to jack off my fellow arteests about how great a
particular piece of art is, because if I did, that's about all I would
have time to do. My arm would wear out, 'cause there's so much good
stuff. Instead I try to make sure this great stuff is eventually
"imbedded in amber," mounted on SubSITE, AT MY PERSONAL EXPENSE I might
add. Also I rip off the square shaped pictures and use them for CD
covers. Someday when somebody buys the CDs and I'm rich, I'll pay
everybody in something besides free copies of the CD.

What really needs to exist is a giant coffee table book called
"ELECTRONIC ART OF THE CHURCH OF THE SUBGENIUS" with 1,000 full color
plates. I suggested the notion to our erstwhile publishers but I think
those publishers are STRICTLY "erstwhile." It's up to us.

Speaking of artwork and royalties, I looked at the Cafe Press Sales
Page and they changed the readout so that now I can't tell who bought
what, but I can tell exactly what was bought. Since Jan. 1 only two
color items have been bought (both were t-shirts with old LeMur pics on
them). Everything else so far is Old School black and white -- "Bob,"
Wings of Slack, Logo. I bought a bunch of the color stuff for Xmas
presents and now I want to buy it all again for myself. I can see where
Cafe Press makes their money.

When I wanted to see nice prints of my own art, bound, I uploaded the
artwork to Cafe Press for a 2003 calendar and then ordered the
calendar. (And lo and behold, one person I don't even know bought one
of the calendars too!) I'm looking at publish-on-demand companies like
iUniverse to see about getting some of these acres of new (and old
unpublished) stuff out in book form for those discerning and rich
enough to buy it. iUniverse is text and black-and-white mostly, though.

I don't think the Conspiracy is a good place for us to try to get
published, anymore. Or maybe we just need to try dealing with another
sector of the Conspiracy. But it always seems to come out sour.
