Waking Life

We had heard a lot about that Richard Linklater movie "Waking Life," and in our illness rented it. Sorry to say, it took us 3 nights to make our way through that painful thing. Such a wonderful animation technique, such a lot of work, such a lot of specious, sophomoric jive-ass hot-air jibber jabber. I really liked previous movies by him that I've seen, but watching this movie was akin to being forced to sit through all the workshops at Starwood that I normally avoid. I think it's wonderful that people have their own philosophies and beliefs about Life the Universe and Everything. And they're all TEDIOUS and STUPID after the first ten minutes. This is one guy's 90 minute philosophy lecture, and not even the most gorgeous animation in the world can make it sound anything but embarrassing to me.

Takes one to know one, huh.
