For months I, Stang* whittled away in my Sanctum at the ancient, beloved 1983 "BAD DOKTORS" audio tape, modernizing the sound for use as clips on the Hour of Slack radio show. It has now been turned BACK into an album, vastly improved. In the old days, to rearrange audio clips one had to physically chop up 1/4-inch reel to reel tape, spool it in little bins, and re-splice it all back together in its new arrangement. You know how we media barragists love our little match-cuts of disparate, oddly synchronistic but otherwise unrelated clips. Doing that sort of thing is much easier when one can regard one's multitudinous clips as a stack of separate files, all visible and labeled, easy to rearrange for a more seemly flow. Improving, or deliberately tearing up, the sound of certain clips, using trippy sound filters, is another option we didn't have in past years, before "Bob's" church became the juggernaut it is today.

This famous old school album has been further gussied up in a lovely jewel case with art by Heart Ignition and Fernandinande LeMur.

"BAD DOKTORS" was done at the same time as Media Barrages 10, 11 and 12 and is actually a continuation of those. It derives from the bucket into which anything of the category "DOKTORS" was thrown - that is, the most psychedelic and/or savage sounding, grossly LSD-bent material. The BEST-RECORDED and most PALATABLE of such, I should say. Luckily, Byron Werner had edited an incredible bulldada media barrage which helps hold it all together. Some of it is an audio history of the specific Arkansas bold surrealists, Doktors 4 "Bob," but there's also music and ranting from the beginnings of the Church outreach by Brother Cleve Dunkan, DK Jones, Dr. Drummond and myself, even St. tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE, plus early Puzzling Evidence -Gary G'broagfran -LIES radio... intensely great moments from when the rocket was just starting lift-off. (We're now orbitting and have yet to begin re-entry; probably won't till the Church Air runs out!)
