O.J. who?

Here is a slightly modified version of a message I wrote way back in
1994, at the beginning of a certain other Famous Celebrity Trial:

This is all I have to say concerning the [Michael Jackson] flapdoodle:

IGNORE IT! DON'T WATCH IT ON TV! IT'S NOT IMPORTANT!

Sure, [Michael Jackson]'s in a lot of deep doo-doo and his life is
royally screwed up. That's his business. The world is not going to
come to an end if we don't hear the latest up-to-the-second reports of
how [Michael Jackson] [surrendered], what brand of [plane] he was
driving, how many steps he took from his house to his [plane], what he
had for breakfast this morning, and how many [kids] were in his
[ranch].

The only reason everyone is so worked up over this thing is because 1)
[Michael Jackson] is a celebrity, and 2) it's on TV. ESPECIALLY
because it's
on TV! In my book, celebrity status is not enough to warrant full
(Conspiracy-dominated!) prime-time network coverage of his pursuit and
capture. The networks broadcast this thing live because they knew
that
more people would want to watch it...and they would get higher ratings
that way. The Conspiracy is USING this event, like other similar
media
events, to draw attention away from REAL important things and focusing
on
idiotic flashy tabloid stuff that simply is not worth it.

The guy's in trouble, he's going to court. Fine. If you want to be
fair
to all of the OTHER nobodies in this great land of ours whose lives
are in
trouble, then the amount of coverage [Michael Jackson] should be
getting on TV
is about equal to that one single sentence.

Leave the guy alone and let him work out his own problems.

Don't let the Conspiracy tell YOU what's "important" news and what
isn't!

If Michael Jackson's nose finally fell off his face completely, would they
put it on the front page?

I just saw his Mug Shot on Yahoo NEws.

I expected to have his race listed as ??????

But they listed him as black.

And they claim his sex is male.

But it's alright for you to tell me what's not important?

Not that I disagree with you, of course.

If you haven't sent your $30 to "Bob," then damn right it's alright!
That automatically makes me BETTER than you.

On the other hand, if you ARE a paid-up SubGenius Minister, then feel
free to ignore me.
