Terror Alert? Or just BULLSHIT?

This paragraph says it all (from a NY Times article):

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/02/politics/campaign/02campaign.html?hp

"Mr. Bush is preparing to issue orders, perhaps as early as Monday, to
put in place some of the changes recommended by the Sept. 11
commission. That is likely to put him at the center of the news, which
was dominated last week by the Democrats' convention."

I'm sitting here typing this from my midtown Manhattan office on 31st
and 7th, a mere hiccup from Madison Square Garden where the Republican
National Convention will be held. If I farted from my desk, someone
at that convention could probably smell it, and I'll be a hell of a
lot closer than any protester will be allowed to be. The security
here is TIGHT, and I guess a normal person in my position should be at
least somewhat concerned with the terror alert. But you know what?

This is all bullshit. How many times is Tom Ridge going to "cry wolf"
before the authorities of this world allow the sheep to be eaten?
This politicizing BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT is just about the most
offensive thing I can think of in light of what happened three years
ago. And every time I have to listen to hicks blather on about 911 I
want to vomit because, listen assholes, we're LIVING this shit and we
know it's bullshit.

I don't just want this dancing monkey out of office. I WANT CRABS TO
PICK APART HIS GENITALS!

I'll let my .sig file speak for me:

"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to
continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too
expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they
will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out
of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the
theatre."

I agree. Even tho I picked up a copy of the NY Times today to read about
this new terror alert (which for once sounds creditable -- even tho it's
horribly non specific) these terror alerts are BULLSHIT ... or should I say
BUSHSHIT!

Last month, when the first report of "possible" terror attacks to disrupt
the presidential elections [which I read about on the BBC News website (the
only place to get real news about the US)] I told my wife, "Bush is getting
ready to pull some shit and fuck us over for this election also." Sure
enough, a few days later, Tom Ridge is asking whether he can "delay" the
elections!

Back in college, I was helping a friend study Spanish. One of the phrases
he was learning was, "I'm glad we have free elections in our country." I
read that and realized that we're fortunate to have free elections. Now, 20
years later, I'm beginning to think that we've lost that. Sure, in Chicago,
dead people voted -- but that's nothing near having the supreme court
coronate you as president. Bush has turned our country into a banana
republic where everyone knows elections are jokes. He's gotten wise that a
lot of people are pissed off at him -- some now he's laying the ground work
to make sure he wins the 2004 elections.

the National Public Radio program agrees with you...exactly.
A former CIA guy gets on and practically says it's bullshit
and crying wolf.

Actually, it's for the convention, nicht Wahr? You KNOW that
has to be the real reason for orange fucking alert in
DC and NYC. It will last through the convention.

Then for the election we will get our first red fucking alert
because we are about to bomb the fuck out of Iran. Then when
we bomb the fuck out of Iran, I expect some people will be pissed
off enough to actually form the sort of "terrorist" response
we have been told already exists, but doesn't as yet.

Self-fulfilling prophecy. Anyway, the red alert and state of
immediate new military invasion is necessary to scare the crap
out of voters and swing it back to Bush.

If it's too close or a runaway for Kerry, the elections will just
have to be postponed.

But when do we get rid of the excess humans? Enough of this screwing around.

Real soon.

See my alt.slack post "You'd all better hope I'm wrong" (or something
like that).

You know what, I'm feeling benevolent. I'll even tinyurl the Google
Groups archive page for you.

The post is in two parts. I replied to myself with the second part.
