Giant Sumatran Rat
(Eint Opfgericht Von Ratteriese)
- One giant Sumatran rat (skinned)
- One small bottle of soy sauce
- One cup of sugar
- Two tablespoons of salt
- One to two cups of fine Bourbon whiskey
- Three large yellow onions
- Four to six medium-size carrots
- Four cloves of garlic
- Half cup of olive oil
- Slice rat into pieces convenient for consuming as "finger food."
- Fill family-size stew pot with sufficient water to cover ingredients.
- Slice onions.
- Clean carrots but do not slice.
- Slice garlic into slivers.
- Using sharp kitchen knife, pierce rat meat and insert one sliver
garlic into each opening.
- Rub rat with olive oil, then rub in mixture of sugar and salt until
absorbed by meat.
- Bring water in pot to boil, adding soy sauce and any surplus olive
oil.
- Add vegetables and permit to stew for 20 - 30 minutes.
- Add rat.
- When rat meat turns grayish-white (this should take only about five
minutes), add Bourbon.
- Let boil for one to two minutes longer.
- Serve over bed of boiled brown rice.

Rat, The New Meat. As far as I know, rat is the only food meat that has not
been found to hace no artificial additives (not counting D-Con) or other
health hazards. This reminds me of a book I read called King Rat about a
man who makes it big in a Vietnamese POW camp. Has anyone else read this
book or is it a figment of my imagination? If not, I recommend it. The
protagonist is highly slackful.

'King Rat' by James Clavell
Was set in WW II, not Viet Nam
and based on personal experience of the author.
Set in Changi prison on Singapore island.
http://www.jamesclavell.net/king_rat.htm
The funny part was that King Rat was breeding rats
in the POW camp, harvesting and cooking them up then
trading them to Japanese officers for other stuff.
It's also a fine major motion picture film.

I saw the movie and read the book, both great!
But in the movie, it really stuck out: the camp liberation scene.
The whole camp life was very serious and real, it's own little
universe, and all of the trivial shit was big time business. When
the well-fed and clean soldiers came to the camp, there was
that moment when everything collapsed and the scrawny prisoners
in their underwear became ridiculous and pathetic. A powerful social
statement, because, you know, that could happen at any given moment.

Yep, only someone who's been there could bring the truth to a story like
that.
Imagine Robert Anton Wilson writing a prisoner of war camp story.
Oh, wait, he already did.

Yeah, I remembered that out after I posted. I wasn't going to follow up my
own post for some trivial correction. And I damn sure didn't know that I
was suppose to check my sources before posting nonsense to usenet.
