Well.
(I didn't read much farther than that. I've been looking for a way to put
this into words for some time. And I think this is it.)
My guess is you didn't jump as far into slack as this:
My brother has been doing just that for many months. He had the whole
routine: a great job as a plant manager, 6 figure income, 3 or 4 cars,
motorcycle, a boat, good wife, 3 kids, a real nice house on an extremely
private and landscaped 2 acres. It was sweet.
Then one day, he left.
He just walked away. Away from his job, his wife, his kids, the cars, the
boat, the house - everything. Even his clothes. He decided that he was going
to spend his days seeking his vision of slack. And Boy Howdy, did he. Very
soon after, he got on crack. As of right now, he is homeless, jobless,
penniless and owns nought but the clothes on his back. For him, this is
great, if you were to ask him. But for those he left behind, it is a
bizzare, unthinkable nightmareish catastrophe. The last time I saw him, he
had two black eyes and a few broken ribs. He aint too fast these days, being
about 50 or so.
I also learned the reason for all this (I think) - he's had hepatitis C for
almost 20 years, and has been drinking for evey day of those 20 years.
Recently he found out that he had stage 2 hepatitis, and needs a liver
transplant. He has maybe a year to live. So this is how he's decided to
spend his days. And he's doing it.
Anyhow, I needed to unload this somewhere, and usenet seems like a good
place to leave it.
It is what it is.
