Bob Larson Vs. Stang, 6X-Day short on a.b.s.

On alt.binaries.slack:
Even if you are still using only a browser to look at newsgroups, you
can nonetheless cop from alt.binaries.slack these two one-piece files:
MP3 of my 1998 appearance on the Christian radio talk show of Bob
Larson. Yes, THAT Bob Larson. I was making a new Hour of Slack from old
taped shows and this came up, from old show #632.
I think Larson and I both got what we wanted out of it.
TINY LITTLE REALMEDIA MOVIE of the new "6X-Day Short" 23-minute cut,
which I made in the course of practicing with a load of new video fx
transitions and filters and doohickies.
If you use a real downloading app like Agent or Thoth you can also get
a better version of it, the dozen or so RAR files which recombine to
make a DivX avi version of that same 6X-Day video. While this is a
relatively low-res avi, at 150 mb it nonetheless has a large
screen-size picture, good stereo sound and generally is better than a
VCD I made of it. I went to some trouble to make sure it would play on,
say, a Phillips 642 DVD player, which plays DivX, VCD and SVCD, and
which has majorly changed my viewing habits.
BUT!!
Since alt.binaries.slack is primarily NOT for huge movie files, I put
the really GOOOD high-resolution SVCD mpeg version on
alt.binaries.monter-movies (NOT MONSTER-movies, which features slasher
films). That SVCD one looks about like the DVD. I use Giganews for
Usenet feed and I notice that there, a.b.monter-movies still has
"ARISE!," the re-uncut "Let's Visit The World of the Future" and
"Reproduction Cycle" -- I posted those weeks ago. There is also a ton
of fine audio from Phineas Narco's National Cynical Radio. (There is
also a TON of FUCKED UP TV RERUN SHIT from AMATEURS and SPAZZES who
have apparently started using the newsgroup again... I suggest "sort by
author" and then killfile everybody but me, Phineas, Leo the Committed
and nu-monet.)
This "6X-Day Short" is drastically different from the 62 minute one
that's on the DVD and which I posted a few months back. Whereas the
long version was pretty much SubGenius-only, this version moves along
at a fast enough clip, and is jazzed up with sufficient extraneous
video effects, that even the UnSaved would probably get a kick out of
it. While the long versions are kinda "cinema verite" this one is more
"MTV." More of a SPECTACULAR LIE. Makes X-Day look like it's ALL good
looking dames, insanely-costumed kick-ass musicians, nutty stunts, LSD
overdoses and hardcore ranting.
NOTE! When I first tried posting the mp3 and the RM file on
alt.binaries.slack last night, I had a crash. Then I tried again and
had ANOTHER crash. So there are two false tries before the ones that
worked. Folks with newsreaders will instantly be able to tell but if
you're on a browser the whole thing will probably look like an
indeciferable mess.
SIDE NEWS for geeks only:
Yes, a crash. My OWC Neptune external firewire 200 gb drive up and DIED
last night. I mean it really DIED. Not recognized as a drive at all.
Luckily, I am a compulsive back-up artist, so I didn't lose anything
but time. (It was one of six hard drives I have running off this one
Mac.) In fact last week I whiffread that the drive was flakey so I took
extra precautions. This morning I went out and nabbed two 160 gb LaCie
firewire drives that were on sale at MicroCenter for $130 each. I could
have gotten a 250mb drive for $150 from some Internet company but I'd
just as soon split the shit between two drives since ALL DRIVES DIE
EVENTUALLY, and I needed 'em NOW not three days from now. Believe it or
not, people actually do buy Memberships and DVDs and so forth in a
pretty steady stream and I really do fill the orders within a day or
two. I have found that since I started making sure things happen that
way, I sell a LOT more swag. This way I can have back-up OF the
back-up, too.
It was most thoughtful of the machine to wait until I had finished my
video editing project to crash!
I got the shows done. I mailed the swag out. I broke my right little
toe by trying to walk and chew gum simultaneously, and taped it to its
brother. I deposited the $ in the bank and got the replacement hard
drives. Now I have to choose what the fuck to do next.
a) come up with something to say at devival at Winterstar this weekend?
-- indoor "consciousness" convention, I'm supposed to provide the
corniness antidote or something. It's at a resort in Ohio.
b) monkey with the two new drives and start filling them up from the
back-up DVDs? That sounds like the most FUN to me as a Tool Using Male.
c) order supplies and Take Care Of Bizness?
d) finally make the little adds and order-forms for the SubSITE
scatalog for these various new SwaggArts I've had ready to sell for two
months now:
Hour of Slack in MP3 Vol. 18 & 19
Hours of Slack in OGG Vol. 4
UnReCut World of the Future DVD
The Tree of Knowledge Poster (I have 'em again!) (I haven't even mailed
those two posters to those two guys! Fuck!)

First 13 parts of the rar are missing from Giganews. If you repost them,
then I can see this thing. Dang, I gotta get up the gumption to install
something on Winders that makes sucking flix from MONTER easier.
FYI, Adelfuckya was out last night around my bedtime (3 AM). Might explain
some of yer problems. Damn, not having internet at that hour meant that I
had to finally go to SLEEP and catch up on the postings to my inner eyelids,
which were most amusing. Wish there was some kind of keychain drive you
could save your DREAMS on for later viewing and editing.
I now have a wireless router in this place, so when the internet thingy goes
out there is QUITE A BIT of troubleshooting to go through. That is, is it
the router or the cable modem or the bankrupt company that threaded the wire
in?
But by the time I arizzzed, say 1-ish PM, all was well. If only all
problems would cure themselves so.
S'funny how, you wake up in the morning (afternoon for me) and have nothing
to do all day but still are going strong at 3 AM.

You lie like a rug!!
I am looking at Giganews right now and all parts are there on both
a.b.slack and monter-movies (you didn't say which)!
Come to think of it you didn't say which movie, the RM or the DivX or
the SVCD.
WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO TRICK ME?!?

It would actually be easier for me to walk down to your house and hand
you one of the many excess CDRs I ended up with of the AVI! Except that
I have a broken toe so I'd have to hobble. So I won't. You'll have to
hobble here to see this fantabulous masturpiece! Which has a nice quick
shot of YOU mugging, with Nenslo singing over it!

No, I dumped Adelphia a year ago for apk's dsl. Might explain YER
problem.
Seriously, I bet if you go to the Full Newsgroup List of all ngs and
download a.b.slack or monter from that untouched original list, you'll
see all the parts. They're definitely on Giganews. They might not be on
YOUR Giganews but that might be fixed if you re-load the list of
headers. The times make sense -- if Adelfuck was out at 3 am that's
about when my robot would have been uploading. I think I started the
upload at 1 or 2 and when I crashed at 3 it had just begun the third
and luckily the final attempt, which all worked.
In fact, if you look at alt.binaries.slack real good you'll see that
the first 13 chunks of the SMALL one-file movie, the RM, and the MP3,
are posted THRICE!! -- Twice apiece in the first aborted attempt, then
finally done right with all their fellows in the third and complete
attempt.

Aha. That explains something. Hell, one of these days I might mosey over
there and exchange disks. I gots more Carnivales. The last episode, you
got to see who MGMT was in terms of the WW I flashback thingie they keep
flashing in and out once in a while. While it's a revelation, it sheds no
more light on anything and the plot keeps going off in four or five new
directions.
I still can't find the other posts on my view of Giga, which is filtered by
MS Outlook into an unusually incomplete jumble of crap. Sigh, and I'm fully
awake now so should be able to find such things.
Take care of that toe. Maybe you kin find a healer down there at

The toe has already taken on a life of its own and is dictating its
memoirs, which are proving to be very embarrassing to yours truly.
I have What the Bleep for you and some other movie, Time After Time I
think, and this 6XDay thing that you have the huge starring role in.
Hey I just thought of a joke I could make.
I was watching The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms the other night, and
thought of you during the scene when the Rhedosaurus attempts to mate
with a lighthouse, because to it the lighthouse sounds like a
Rhedosaurus in heat. And it's a horny Rhedosaurus because it's been
entombed hibernating in ice for 60 million years.
BUT! Today they announced that Professor Hoover in Alaska had
discovered 30,000 year old bacteria that had been frozen in the tundra,
hauled up by drilling and CAME BACK TO LIFE! If that can happen to a
bacterium, and a Rhedosaurus, WHY NOT A PREHISTORIC PRAIRIE SQUID? Now
there's a scientific endeavor the government should be funding. Not
more than 30,000 years ago there were still Giant Land Squid lumbering
around South America, sexing Indians. Imagine if such a beast is
trapped frozen in an ice cave somewhere. Whew doggies, talk about
getting horn.

Nice thought. Didn't you ever wonder where all these little lighthouses in
my condo CAME FROM? Oh, I presume you thought I collected them.
Mwahhahhahhahhaaaaa! Or I should say BEEEEE ooooooh...beeee ooohhhh.
BTW, I disenfuckulated my damn Giganews feed and cured the problem whereby
it was giving me FALSE WITNESS to the splendor of ABS postings. I was not
aware that the flipping newsreader could lose shit like that when A%^phia
spazzes out. Now that I've seen myself in glorious RM format, I'm so
charged up I think I will grease me up a lighthouse and have some fun.
Whilst I wait for someone to reconsitute a frozen Prairie Squid!

I must be a complete and total retard, as I can't get my Outlook Shitspress
to transmogulate and combobulate the many, many files that contained the
captured essence of SubGenii in that fabulous medium of the moving picture
(with synchromatic audio) plus effects. I feel like a poor red headed
stepchild, told of where to get the warmth, love and attention I so want,
but only to be BEATEN AWAY, cursed AND spat upon, then woefully bludgeoned
and molested, all the while within sight of the almighty awe-inspiring
salvation that is: SubGenii Movies. Like iDRMRSR, my crap newsreader
garblefies it all together to some hopeless morass of gobbledy-gook code
this denizen of the ethyrium is hopelessly incapable of deciphering. Oh, the
HORROR.
I'll go flog my self repeatedly in the name of "Bob" now. Or sleep, since I
haven't done that in at least 40 hours now. Wheeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

The smartest genius would not be able to do that with Outlook Express.

That's because Outlook Express is for reading email, not downloading
150 mb movie files.

When you wake up, try downloads.com under "News-Readers" and look for
ones that download "multiple-part binaries" from "Usenet newsgroups."
The reason weren't born doing this is because the downloading of
binaries from Usenet started long before you were born. It's just that
for 25 years only a dozen people knew about it.
The slight discomfort of downloading and installing new free programs
is what pays my bills these days. I post these movies and announce that
they're out there for free. That whets the appetite and the greed
gland, so cheapskate SubGenii -- i.e., almost all of them -- fly
towards alt.binaries.slack thinking Oh Boy. Then they find they don't
even know where to start LOOKING for "alt.binaries.slack" and when they
finally figure that out, they find their local service doesn't "feature
it." Then when they get their local service to "feature" it (or when
they find out it's been there all along), they find they can download
the high-larious pictoors by IMBJR but not the gut-busting audio by
LeMur or Polar Bear's entire Goofy Music collection -- or they can
download it but it won't play because Microsoft doesn't acknowledge Ogg
Vorbis. Or they don't see how there's ANYTHING to download ANYWHERE
because it's just a screen full of numbers and code just like the
flowing numeric curtains of code in the Matrix only not moving.
And that's when they order the DVD from Bulldada Time Control
Laboratories.
Then there are the one or two in a hundred who manage to download the
newsreader, get onto a good Usenet feed, obtain the by-then
anticlimactic SubGenius movie, but then start looking around to see if
there's anything else somewhere that they might conceivably want to
download.
And then they find it. Oh yes, they find it. They find the underground
ocean of which Arne Saknussem wrote, the fabled Horn of Plenty, the
Philosopher's Stone, the very Grail. The Fountain of Youth bubbling
away in the Shangri-La palace courtyard with no guards anywhere in
sight and a big sign saying "FREE, Take All U Want".
And months later, when they resurface, they email me gushing with
thanks for my having hauled their lazy asses into Usenet Binaries Land
and forced them to see what the fuck us downloader geeks were talking
about, and changed their lives and saved them so much money and opened
up this vast new universe of cool fucked up shit that they most ever
wanted and always dreamed about but just assumed it was impossible
because it WOULD be way too good to be TRUE.
And I don't mean your diddly shit little Napster or kazaa or whatnot
kid stuff neither. But you might have to use the tools your Grandpappy
used. That's how fantastically advanced and complicated it is.
I noticed that last month WIRED magazine had their first article
mentioning it.
Whoo, CUTTING EDGE!!!
I use this future-tech primarily to obtain old Our Gang comedy shorts
from the 1930s. ALL of them are on vintage-film currently. In the one I
saw last night, "Choo-choo!", this poor old straight-man bastard was
assigned to take The Little Rascals on a train ride to an orphanage, as
they had all been mistaken for a bunch of orphans. Boy, did those
rascals give that guy shit! Buckwheat's dog chased the porter all over
the traiN! Spanky was only a two year old, but he already knew how to
hit fat guys in the face over and over with uncanny comic timing. Man,
kids sure can be cute. Then I saw another one where Alfalfa's aunt
comes to babysit. She's Goth and is writing a murder mystery novel.
Alfalfa finds the manuscript and takes it for a plan to murder HIM, and
wackiness ensues!
At the beginning of that one, it shows the Rascals' clubhouse, Members
Only, which looks just like the SubGenius camps at Brushwood. Since
it's a secret society they all wear funny hats made of newspaper and
they have Secret Hand Signs. The hats look like white Napoleon hats and
one of the secret Hand Signs involves putting your two fists against
the sides of your head.
Alfalfa was wearing his hat and demonstrating this move and for a half
second he looked EXACTLY like Aleister Crowley in that famous picture
where he's wearing the funny hat and making the Secret Hand Sign with
his fists against his temples!
ALFALFA CROWLEY!!
Ahhhh hahahaha

Select all the parts of the posting (ctrl click), then go to the MESSAGE

You will be on the way to slack for sure. If the thing is RARs and PARs and
P01 etc, you have to save each part separately and then dl WinRAR from
someplace to put them back together. Which can be a lot of work.

Quite Chuckulicious. Mighty intrepid of you as well. But you've got
