In the nooz today there was some about the big Dresden rally.
Dresden was fire-bombed about three months before the end
of the war, it was a civilian target, there were no military or
industrial targets there. Just revenge, the war was over. Anyway,
I was thinking about the part of Slaughterhouse 5 where the
guy is raking through the rubble of Dresden on a clean-up
crew and finds an intact Dresden China figurine. He adds it
to his collection on Hummels and lawn gnomes, and goes
on to become manager of the Vancouver Canucks hockey
team after parlaying a $2 bet at Hialeah into enough to go
into the ice business.
