MOV TO AVI CONVERSION

I got some early video footage of The Replacements from the "fuck
school", "god damn job" era. It kicks ever lovin ass, but it's all in
.mov format, so i can't get it on a dvd. I need to transcode the files
to .avi so that i can then take those files and turn them into mpeg2's.

Anybody know a good way to convert the files from .mov to .avi? Anyone
done this before? What's the best app?

I strongly recommend RAD video tools. They are
powerful, and they have .mov to .avi conversion.
It is also freeware, with requested donation.

On a Mac you would use Quicktime and convert directly from .mov to
mpeg2. There's no reason to go through the avi stage that I can think
of. Although QT will also convert .mov to avi or DivX avi, depending on
what plug-ins you download.

I'm about to do a shitload of .mov (that is, DV) to DivX avi
conversions myself.
