After having been once again snubbed by the Academy
of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, Scorsese is
blaming everybody but himself. Apparently, he feels
that ultraviolence, depravity, anti-religion, and
racism, as such, are "art", by definition. He also
seems to think that both the right wing and the left
wing are inhibiting his "art".
...Scorsese told the Times many of his films, including
the portrayal of mafia sadism in "Goodfellas" are
"all about depicting human suffering..."

violence in 'Goodfellas,' but to me there is no such
thing..."
...Scorsese is concerned his freedom of expression is
being encroached upon by political pressures...
...because of the rise of Christian fundamentalism,
"main characters in Hollywood films can't have
abortions..."

for making) The Last Temptation of Christ..."
Scorsese also blasted political correctness from the
left as being a strong censor.
