Mr. Manz, 32, of Allentown died April 11 at home. Born in Riverside, he was
an area resident for many years. He was employed in the Princeton area by
A-1 Limousine. Surviving are his parents, Carol and Joseph Manz of
Allentown; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Jr. and Michele Manz of
Hamilton Township; his maternal grandfather, Joseph Hayes; several aunts and
uncles, Cathleen and Joe Hayes, Debra and Lowell Gabriel, Pat and Lester
Manz, and Irene and Thomas Heck; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A
funeral service was held at Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown. Cremation was
private. Memorial donations may be made to the New Egypt First Aid Squad,
P.O. Box 368, New Egypt 08533.
Theodore Underwood
Mr. Underwood, 89, of Vero Beach, Fla., died April 19 at Indian River
Memorial Hospital, Vero Beach. Born in Newark, he had resided in Freehold
Township for 40 years before moving to Florida. A World War II Army Air
Corps veteran, he was the owner of and broker of record for the Underwood
Insurance Agency, Freehold Township, prior to retiring in 1999. He was a
special police officer appointed by the mayor of Farmingdale; past commander
of the American Legion of Farmingdale; a member of Disabled American
Veterans of Freehold; former member of the Monmouth County Board of
Realtors; and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church,
Freehold. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Audrey Bunn Underwood; four
daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia Chmielewicz and Adolf Gust of
Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, and Bay Harbor Islands, Fla.; Mary and
Donald Hamma of Farmingdale; Frances DeRosa of Freehold and her companion,
Joseph Zuro; and Elizabeth and Mark Baldwin of Vero Beach; seven
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated
at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C.
Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in
charge of arrangements.Myron M. Van Derveer
Mr. Van Derveer, 96, of Freehold died April 19 at CentraState Medical
Center, Freehold Township. Born in West Freehold, he had lived there until
1933, when he got married and moved to Freehold Borough, where he and his
wife lived for 56 years before moving to Silvermead, Freehold Township. He
resided at Silvermead until January, when he moved to Monmouth Crossing, an
assisted living community in Freehold Township. A graduate of Rider College,
Trenton (now Rider University, Lawrenceville), he worked for 46 years in
Freehold at what is now Wachovia Bank and retired as its vice president. He
was a member of the First Baptist Church of Freehold for more than 80 years,
where he served in many offices and was named a life trustee. He also served
as borough of Freehold treasurer and tax collector for 25 years. Mr. Van
Derveer was a member of the Goodwill Hook and Ladder Company, and was
secretary for and treasurer of the Freehold Exempt Fireman's Company (now
Association). He was a volunteer at CentraState Medical Center for 17 years.
An extensive traveler, he loved bowling and playing golf. He was predeceased
in 1999 by his wife of 66 years, Alice; in 1983 by a daughter, Lois V.
Brahm; and in 1993 by a grandson, Eric Brahm. Surviving are a son and
daughter-in-law, David and Phyllis Van Derveer of Freehold Township; four
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at
Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery,
Freehold Township. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist
Church of Freehold Memorial Fund, 81 W. Main St., Freehold 07728.

Willis Graham was a fine human being. He will be truly missed. Rest in
peace, gentle spirit.
