That makes two assumptions.
The first is that Hillary *won't* run, which you will know
for sure fairly soon, because just one month after being
re-elected to the senate, she will have to announce for
president, to fit into a normal candidate timetable.
The second is that Rice, if appointed to VP, *would* want
to run. I would not think that likely. Just by holding
appointed office, she would send shockwaves all over the
planet, would interfere with Hillary's timetable, and
would throw a monkey wrench into the black vote, which
is critical to the Democratic party in many places. Just
getting 40-50% *either* voting Republican *or* just not
voting at all, could annihilate the Democrats from an
s-load of offices across the US.
I don't see much reason for her to want to run. First of
all, she is a "brain" person, not a personality. She is
one of the Washington "Vulcans", as they are called.
Second thing, she is already racially despised by much
of the MSM and the non-black liberal Democrats. If she
becomes VP, they would not be able to contain themselves
and would be yelling "Nigger!" at her. Already, black
liberals were begging Ted Kennedy and ex-Kleagle Robert
Bird to not bash her at the Sec of State hearings--and
they were ignored.
By just being an appointed VP, she might get some of the
Democrats to turn on African-Americans like they have in
favor of the Arabs against the Jews, which has cost them
plenty of the Jewish vote.

Makes sense to me. With Hillary in the race for 2008, probably the
only way for the republicans to beat her is to run a black woman.
Putting Condi in State, and then the VP's office lays the ground for
that contest. Talk about killing one bird with two stones!

Rice would accomplish everything they could hope
for just by being appointed. Remember that she's
not a politician, and has never been elected to
any office.
