James Dobson, founder of the conservative organization
Focus on the Family, has found a new target in his battle
over gay rights, cartoon character.....SpongeBob SquarePants.
At a political dinner on Tuesday, Dobson spoke to the
crowd of politicians and supporters and asked
"Does anybody here know SpongeBob?"
The character, featured in a children's cartoon on the
Nickelodeon television network has achieved an
almost cult like status among children, and is also
extremely popular in the gay and lesbian community.
Dobson claims that the character appears in a
"pro-homosexual" video along with other
cartoon characters. The video in question
was created by Nile Rodgers, writer of
the disco song "We Are Family," to promote
tolerance. The video features cartoon characters
singing and dancing to teach children about multiculturalism.
The video promotes a "tolerance pledge", which was
created by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The pledge includes sexual identity as part of
tolerance. The video itself and accompanying
materials make no mention of sexual identity
or sexual orientation.
A spokesperson for Dobson defended his
claims in comments made to The New York
Times, saying "....We see the video as an insidious
means by which the organization is manipulating
and potentially brainwashing kids."

ObTAmericanTalliban: First it was Falwell and Tinkie-Winkie
now it's Dobson and Spongebob-Squarepants. Makes you
wanna bust-a-button ROTF at how these paranoid xian
goose-steppers *OUT themselves*.
(Baaaaaaahahahahahahahha...) <-- SB-SP laugh
ObToldmemories: I guess, according to Dobson, does this means when your
kid watches SB-SP on NIC over his best friend's house
during a saturday-nite sleepover....nah....I don't wanna
go there....(grin) although I will say that when I was
a newly-hormone charged youth, there was more than
a few incidents of youthful male 'mutual-masturbation'
and other stuff too, going on in the Blaptist church youth group
and this was a very long time before SB-SP ever hit
the boob-tube....

I worked with lady whose brother was gay. She says that she can tell people who
are gay by their mannerisms. And that Gay people can almost "whifread" each
other.
I guess Dobson's third anus was able to whifread SpongeBob's gaynees via the
TV.
