LOS ANGELES, California -- On the heels of recent arguments that
cartoon characters such as Spongebob SquarePants, Barney and a host of
other cartoon characters promote homosexuality to children, the
America Family Association and Rev. James Dobson's Focus On Family
have announced the creation of their own trademarked cartoon
character: "Skippy the Queer-Bashing Squirrel".

"We thought it was an adequate response to what we consider is a
threat: a threat to traditional family values, and the family itself,"
said Dobson at a press conference this morning.

In a 30 minute promotional tape, which Dobson hopes will be shown in
schools widely by this Fall, 'Skippy' is shown in a pilot episode
titled "Gay is Not Okay"'cavorting and frolicking' with his
heterosexual friends, Biff the Bunny, Scooter the Silly Salamandar and
Petie the Hamster, as they seek out the 'Queer Cuddlies' a band of
Teletubbie-like creatures who reside in 'Fun Forest'.

Hilarity ensues as Skippy and friends are seen 'bonking' the cuddlies
with tree branches and coco nuts while reading passages from Leviticus
to them, eventually converting them to Christianity.

"We think it is a fun and tasteful way to promote Christianity to
children and show them that homosexuality is not an acceptable
lifestyle".

Focus on Family is looking for backing to get 12 episodes of the
cartoon series produced. "We are looking at possible federal funding
under the 'faith-based initiative' budgetary allowances," said Dobson.

I take it you think its a joke and that it could never happen. It might
not sell in every market, but it would almost certainly fly in the Deep
South. Monty Python for rednecks.

I'd prefer a cartoon about a giant gerbil shoving humans up his butt
for kicks. Call it "Bumtastic Voyage".
