I MUST WATCH A MOVIE ALMOST EVERY DAY.

I wonder if that's normal.

Tonight I watched MONKEYBONE which I have to say is twisted and flashily
elaborate enough that even YOU might enjoy it, dear reader. For me, the
"dog nightmare" alone was worth it, but there are other good points - a
truck full of transplant surgeons crazily chasing a re-animated corpse
which is popping various organs out of its duct-taped shut abdominal
opening while dangling from a giant monkey-shaped balloon doesn't happen
as often as I'd like. Although, I would like to see JUST ONE movie
where Death ISN'T played by Whoopie Goldberg.

Excellent choice! A Salacian household favorite!

I second that, and third it.

It's on the list.

Oh yeah!

O haven't seen it.

A little editing would make it a great.

Being holed up in this condo, I must watch 2, 3, maybe 4 movies a day.

Like last night I watched The Wicker man:

http://tinyurl.com/4ps3t

If you want to see dry hjuman-mannequin sex, try and score a copy of

Le Grand Ceremonial

http://tinyurl.com/4fc2o

Or, if you like steel balls up the ass, or dix nailed to boards, check out:

Sick

http://tinyurl.com/5dc4n

And the all time hit, as far as I'm concerned (and I've seen Holy Mountain,
Santa Sangre, El Topo, and Fando & Lis) is:

J'irai comme un cheval fou

http://tinyurl.com/4rm9r

Plenty of titas in Wicker, BTW. Britt Eckland titas, holmes! Muy bueno!

I doubt it, considering that IMO the best movie I've seen in a long time
is "Blood, Guts, Bullets, and Octane" http://tinyurl.com/5cvy8

The surprise ending in "The Sixth Sense" is nothing compared to BGBO's.

When I say "dear" reader I do not mean YOU.

"Normal" normal or normal "normal"?

Here's my previous week's intake:

Blood Simple
The first Coen brothers movie. Nice crime
drama. This edition of the DVD features
a bizarre prank commentary that I haven't
gotten through, but which deserves greater
inspection. Haven't seen it in years, was
extremely impressed by itwhen it was new.
Still very good.

8 1/2 Women
Leave it to Peter Greenaway to tackle
a father-fucking theme in a tasteful
manner. Lots of Japanophilia, too.
Made for big screens -- I can't read
all the tiny text!

Seconds
Frankenheimer parapropanoia classic.

Straw Dogs, Criterion Collection
It makes more sense without all the edits,
but still crazy ol' Peckinpah. Good biographical
extra features. Academic commentary.

Dark Star
The John Carpenter/Dan O'Bannon student film.
Found a DVD on sale for $4.99. Both versions.
Still holds up as more than mere practice for
Alien and The Thing. Fuckin' hippies.

Color of Pain
Hong Kong action flick. Starts out great, but
weakens by the end. Bizarre sound treatment.
Recommended for the first half if you like
that kind of shit.

Pretty damned refined for anybody's first movie. I can go either way
with those guys, sometimes I like them and sometimes I don't know if I
like them or not. Which I guess is not really "either way" but more
like a way and a half.

<<... sometimes I like them and sometimes
I don't know if I like them or not.>>

When I saw half the audience walk
out of the theater on Hudsucker Proxy
I figured they were doing
something right. The audience reaction
to Fargo at the NYFF
at Lincoln Center further cemented
this notion (it must've been the
woodchipper scene). I resented
the success of the Soggy Bottom
Boys at first, but I guess they need
to recoup at some point.

The "best" one in the above list,
i.e. one that freaked me out the most,
is Seconds. I actually watched it LAST
night after I posted that. It was not
cold war themed as I originally
expected (although a lot of the cast
from Manchurian Candidate do cameos).
It was like an extended episode of
Twilight Zome or Outer Limits shot
in stark b/w film noir style with lots
of almost-fisheye lenses that made
the noses of sweaty men look really
big. The Santa Barbara nekkid
Dionysian grape-stomping orgy scene
was restored to original length with
lots of jiggling butts and boobs.
Hot stuff for -- 1964?65?
I'd tell you more, but I don't want
to ruin it for you.

I have just ordered it from the library. Thanks!
