That's an outstanding flick and in its own way, as disturbing as
"Hellraiser 2" or "Benji," probably because its based entirely on the
real thing.

I watched the "Directors comments" (Duvall speaking through the movie)
version of this. Duvall actually IS The Apostle. That character is HIM, at
least if he wasn't an actor.

One at a time please. When you start pumping out lists of movies it's
just too much and I ignore them all.
Mrs. Nenslo liked The Apostle, but I passed on it. I saw part of the
second Addams Family movie on TV. I liked the show okay, but am really
a Munsters man. I found a tape at a thrift store that had a six hour
cable TV Munsters ordeal on it, including the rare unseen pilot where
their makeup is all weird. I saw the Munsters movie in the theatre when
it came out.

HEY LOOK I'M FOLLOWING UP MY OWN POST!
Mrs. N came back from vacation today so I got her to watch Monkeybone
with me. She said "I can't believe you sat through that twice." Woman
is an eternal mystery.
I was thinking just now that maybe one reason I thought the fourth
starwars movie was SO BORING was because the whole hot rod race sequence
was just a re-shoot of the last half hour of Munsters Go Home, but with
Terry-Thomas walking on his hands. That and the Republic Serial quality
direction, which I think he was actually TRYING to do.

Well dang, I thought you had long ago snapped to the fact that "Star
Wars" movies are like a visual sorbet. You look at the pretty colors and
blank your mind right before you watch a real film that requires some
thought. I like 'em okay, but hey, they're just Buck Rogers all dressed
up like a CD-ROM game with too much dialog.
If you looked at Princess Amidala and thought "Whut the hell'd they do
ta Boy George?," you might be a redneck Jedi.

On Star Trek, you can get lost,
but someone always comes to GET you.
"If we can stand up
while all else falls down
we'll last through the winter

- Peter Gabriel, "Ovo"
"There's a lot of kids and a lot of junkies
out there right now who are countin' on me."
- "Death To Smoochy"

Unlike Flanders, I don't like mine "plain." If they are going to have
to win a hot rod race to save the farm I need to have Elvis in there somewhere.

I was impressed that they built that Archangel Uriel of Unarius costume
for her and then had her wearing it in one shot, gazing pensively out
the window for ten seconds. That and Japs versus Coons plot element.
Impressed like when I heard that they had raided a meth house nearby at
6:30 in the morning and had SEVENTEEN cranked up poebuckers out of there
lying on the pavement with their hands cuffed in the rain. Impressed
like grossed out.

that is a GREAT one. The kumbayah scene alone throws this into the
stratosphere of true classics.
