not only did the sage codec advice given in here actually help, it FIXED
the other video players! Media Player Classic no longer crashes; dear
Christ below, it even forced Media Player 10 into obedience! Bill's
worst, beaten to its knees!

Yay!
I d/l'd and installed an update of Ace Mega Codecs Pack on one drive today,
and everything still works, but only I have to readjust the "Classic"
player for preferences of sampling delay and bass-treble levels, etc.
Everything eles is the same or better!
I like that the Ace set on the theory that it has the best, most, and newest;
so, I'll probably continue to check for new and improved versions--
