Religious Dickwads vs. Children's TV...yet again

I guess Tinky-Winky and the Teletubbies are passe these days. Now
they're going after SpongeBob Squarepants because of his obviously gay
relationship with Patrick the starfish. (I don't suppose they've
considered the possibility that SpongeBob and Patrick are best buddies
because they're STUPID?!?)

Title: US RIGHT ATTACKS SPONGEBOB VIDEO

US conservative groups are up in arms over a music video featuring
children's TV heroes such as the cheerful cartoon character SpongeBob
SquarePants.

Focus on the Family and other groups say the video - a remake of the
Sister Sledge hit, We Are Family - is a vehicle for pro-gay propaganda.

The video's makers plan to mail it to US schools in the spring to
promote tolerance and diversity.

The video also features children's favourites like Bob the Builder,
along with characters from Sesame Street and The Muppet Show.

But James Dobson, founder of right-wing Christian group Focus on the
Family, singled out SpongeBob at a black-tie dinner in Washington in
the run-up to President Bush's inauguration, the New York Times said.

SpongeBob - who appears on the children's cable channel Nickelodeon -
is seen as an icon for adult gay men in the US, apparently because he
regularly holds hands with his sidekick Patrick.

Yeah, its as if you're having a serious fever dream where bloated,
colorful testicles dance around and castigate you for slapping them into
all the wrongest places. The scary part is trying to figure out why
there are so many when you always thought you had just two.

I believe that it's "his obviously gay relationship with Patrick's
starfish".

Of course, I'm not condemning sex with anyone's starfish. That would just
plain be wrong. It's a glub given right to love someone elses tight and
lovely little starfish, regardless of race, color or creed.

THAT my friends, is a fuking LEVEL. Holy shit man. I can't believe
_I_ am the one who is seen as being a morally bankrupt degenerate when
these people are reading sexual inuendo into spongebob cartoons.
These people are seriously sick in the head and should be

If there is a card carrying SubGenius writing Sponge Bob, I've never
noticed a single reference. The cartoon is on at my house 3 to 4 times

yeah. they'd rather children were being shown videos of good, wholesome
biblical stuff.

001:018 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said,
Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in
their eldest brother's house:

001:019 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and
smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the
young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to
tell thee.

001:020 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and
fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

001:021 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked
shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken
away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

The story of Job never fails to get a laugh out of me.

There it is, lying in the middle of the Bible like a Three Stooges
movie playing in the middle of the Louvre. Christians and Jews alike
are supposed to believe in it. That's the rules. No, you aren't
allowed to believe in bits and pieces of the Bible and then skip over
the ridiculous parts.

But there's nothing vague about Job. God tortured Job, killed his
family, destroyed him on every level, simply because Satan messed with
His (God's) mind about it. It's made very very explicit that Job did
NOTHING wrong, either before, during, or after the period of divine
stalking. In fact it's made very clear that that is WHY, precisely,
Satan chose him. Job is punished BECAUSE he's good, AND because God
ISN'T BRIGHT ENOUGH to see that He's being manipulated by Satan.

And of course, despite the many miracles described in the Bible, it
doesn't even cross God's mind to, say, bring Job's kids back from the
dead or any such thing. After this horrible period of abuse God
simply pats Job on the head for not losing his trust in God
throughout, and says "there there, good boy Job".

The dysfunctionality inherent in Judeo/Christian belief, certainly
literal belief, is at it's clearest in Job.

Brilliant! Definitely well said. I have friends, good Christians mind
you, that wonder why I left Christianity. My answer is usually quite
simple... "Because I've read the ENTIRE book."

There is very strong evidence that the present Book of Job was not the
first. In the first version of the Book Job got nothing, nada, the big zero
out of God. The end of the book is Job sitting on a pile of shit and saying
"Jesus, I should have worshipped "BoB"." An early use of the name Jesus.

I hear Nickelodeon is set to capitalize on this
audience segment with an entirely new cable
television channel -- "Dickelodeon" -- set to
premiere this summer with lots of new cartoons.

Some of the new series we can expect to see
include:

"Flamingfag Freakpants"
"Cocksmoker the Twinkboy"
"Faggy O'Queer, The Happy Bear" and
"Anal Force 5000"
