Suits Allege Racial Bias At Waffle House
ATLANTA -- Black customers filed federal lawsuits against the Waffle House
chain Tuesday, saying restaurants in Georgia and Alabama discriminated against them.
The lawsuits, which joined two others filed last week in North Carolina and Virginia,
allege that servers announced they would not serve blacks, deliberately served
unsanitary food to minority patrons, directed racial epithets at blacks and became
verbally abusive when asked to wait on blacks.
Although plaintiffs' attorneys said 20 discrimination cases are already pending against
the Norcross, Ga.-based company, Waffle House said it has a policy to train workers
"to treat all customers equally."

There are plenty of bad diners and restaurants, but several
of them have sort of bottomed-out and bounced back; like
the Super 29 Diner, a silver diner that is a bad as ever for food,
but now has a great juke box. There's "The Silver Diner" and
the monster "New York Diner"--there's a one-of-a-kind called
"The Dixie Pig" a bbq joint. Krispy Kreme Donuts is big here,
but I heard they're fixin' to go bankrupt. Denny's and International
House of Pancakes should be avoided, except as a last resort.
There used to be a burger chain better than White Tower
called "Little Tavern" but they're now defunct. Some of the
truckstops on Route 95 are something, like "Speed&Briscoe"
good place for a cup of 90-weight gear oil.

Run, don't walk, to the Texas Tavern in Roanoke, Va. It has the best food
and scenery anywere. It's a single lunch counter with stupendous chili, hot
dogs, real hambugers and the best Cheezy Western anywere. Oh, there's a
stainless steel pipe between the stools and the counter for your feet but it
been in place so long that it's half way worn through, that tells ya how
long the TT has been there.

that's always full, just East of Luray, first place on the
left coming down off the mountain. $10 all you can eat
of about 30 different items of country cookin'

It prolly figgers, but a guy like me that has to have a fix of scrapple once
in a while things that
KRYSTAL and WAFFLE HOUSE
are the BEST places on earth to grub up! Bob damn you for mentioning these
places. There taint any around up near my Yankee territory. Now I have to
go to bed with a grumbling tummy.
Nothing satisfies like a half dozen Krystals or waffles and eggs and ham and
cheese and hash browns on top. Every time I'm driving somewhere I have to
stop at either one of these when I see 'em. Slows me down something
terrible.
