Another inquiry of vital importance

When did people's hearts start going out? For the past few years,
shortly after any public tragedy, people have begun declaring the "going
out" of their hearts to people affected by or associated with that
tragedy. I just wonder when it began to happen and why.

I think it started in the 80s. Had something to do with Reagan I think.

My heart has never gone out to anyone. Nor have I "felt" anyone at
removes from myself. I think my psychic skills are lacking or
something...maybe I'm too empirical, who knows.

Man that would be a great skill to have, to feel people from a distance.
I'd like to feel that gal on that one show, the one with the you know what.

Indeed. I only bring that up because of the current slang phrase "I feel
you dawg!".

"Excuse me? Keep your hands to yourself, I'm not of that particular
persuasion."

And man, if that were the case...I would be defending my wife's virtue
on a daily basis.

I know you're heartless and stuff, and probably got your hopes up at
hearing this..."Hey, I can just snag a heart as it passes me, going out
to some person". I think experimentation and what-not with human parts
and pieces is kinda illegal unless you're certified or something.

Maybe you could resort to grave robbery?

I dunno, just a thought.

I don't know, people have been going out of their heads for years. I
think going out of their hearts is a reasonable step forward.

Is that on a stalk, a psuedopod, an arm, a leg, or a vaporous emission
which is the mere projection into 3D spacetime of the true member that
you are extending?

Whichever, just don't touch me with it.

It happens to people who are not psychopaths, like you. people who have
feelings. Strangest damned thing! But don't worry, no one's fucking heart
will ever go out to you, despite all the internet hugs you've received.

I dont know about my heart going out to anybody. The physical pain
which would accompany the removal of a heart would be excrutiating,
thus my lack of doing so. Although making others people hearts go out
would be an interesting passtime. The only thing that goes away from me
are bodily fluids, and they rarely go to anyybody else, unless im
feeling particularly angry.

I believe it's because the Mental processes of the population at large
have changed more drastically than anyone has even thought about... To
the point that I would dare say the majority of the world population
prolly has a thinking disorder of some kind of another. The underlying
symptom of mental disorders is lack of empathy (I'm not making that
part up; http://www.focusas.com/PersonalityDisorders.html) which is
exactly what you are speaking of.

Can't say what caused it- my guess is T.V. - It's a constant steady
stream of bad examples; coupled with lack of good (ie, AVAILABLE)
parenting.

About the only drug I've clinically heard of to "increase empathy" is
4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (C11H15NO2) (MDMA)- also called
"Ecstasy"
(http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic927.htm) It's interesting that
"Increased Empathy" is in the paragraph under "General medical adverse
effects" - go figure.

happened to be wondering bout this the other day - executions (all
through history as far as my knowledge goes) have been as nasty as
anyone can make up, public and VERY POPULAR.

Shudder…
