I wonder how genetically different they are from modern elephants...
maybe they can crossbreed and produce viable offspring, like dogs can
with wolves.
We could repopulate the tundra with vast herds of 'em.

Don't be so hasty. Remember what happened when he won Stampy in that
KBBL contest. You don't want that happening with TOUGHER pachyderms who,
if they walk far enough, can show up in your back yard.

Maybe they could make miniature ones like they did with poodles.
Shetland pony sized wooly mammoths! We could call them Mini Mammoths
(tm).
The downside would be if the Inuits (Eskimos) decided to use them to
invade Alaska, riding them across the frozen tundra like the Mongols on
their shaggy ponies invaded China. Pretty soon there'd be The Great Wall
of Canada across the Territories.
Of course, it would change the Iditarod forever...
