Catholic Church Condemns Book
First it was the DaVinci Code and now the Catholic Church has set it's
sights on one of the most successful Science Fiction Novels of all time, The
Lord of the Rings.

The book makes mockery of the Bible with it's alternative version of
Evolution according to Church leaders. Vatican SpokesMan, Cardinal Jacobs
was quoting as saying 'There is no room for Orcs and Elves in Gods plan and
don't even get me started on Ewoks..'. He went to to condemn the writer of
the Novel, Peter Jackson, for deliberately trying to undermine the teaching
of the Catholic Church.

"We are also frightened about the way itcondones black magic and makes a
hero out of the dark satanic charatcter, Gandalf' Jacobs went on to say. The
ewoks are also shown using a magic ring which in the story is obviously a
tool of the Devil.

'More Satanic image is used in the final book when Gandalf gets involved in
a hellish power struggle with a huge firey Demon on an underground bridge.'
Jacobs then continued with a warning to all Parents to ban their children
from reading such evil trash along with other novels like Harry Potter and
the Satanic Verses.

Oh, yeah! by Harlem Ellison or some such.

The first time I read it musta been thirty years ago.
I remember it quite well. Me and a couple of friends,
there were a few White Boys, 28 White kids going
to Howard University. One guy a psych major, one
a social psych major a really hep cat heroin junkie
who was a fourth generation Latvian furniture maker,
so good he could forge antiques! a sociologist who's
now running the Greater Baltimore Committee, and
a psychopharmachologist who was working for Sandoz
PharmCo and got us 200mcg tabs of the only legal acid!
So, yeah, Ellison's book, the first time I tried to read it,
I got to the part about page 68 where the guys were
boxing for a frat for money so they could go to school,
and money was thrown onto a carpet; but when they
went to pick up the money that they'd earned with their
blood and sweat, the ofays hit the switch and electrified
the rug just to watch the niggers jump! What a hoot!
Haaw-haaw! You had to be there, I guess.

I *had* to read that one for a college Literature course, early 70's, same
as "The Mayor of Casterbridge". When you *have* to read a book, it kind of
takes the fun out of it, yanno?

With a title like that, I started out trying to put a sci-fi slant on it -
he's in a hole in the ground with all those lights - but no go. I do
remember the boxing scen with the electrified rug - you didn't mention the
nekkid blonde chick. Yeah, yeah, a lot of it is coming back to me now.

If a Bob is pipeless, long-haired, non-Slack-emitting, quoteless, and
not trying to sell anything, we hardly consider that a proper "Bob."

Anybody knocks on my door at 3AM is very likely to get ventilated with .40 inch holes
in a creative shot pattern. Maybe a Donald Duck head, for instance.

I would say "thanks for the coffee, friend" afterwards though, assuming it didn't get
spilled in the process. I wonder how you say that in dutch. "Danke urg grug cafee
amigo" or something. I guess if they're dead though you can treat them as
functionally bilingual.

It's actually an incomplete sentence. It refers to "The Satanic Versus the
Angelic". It's a new wrestling program that will be shown on the Christian
Broadcast Network.

"For God sayeth unto the faithful... 'SMACKDOWN!!!'"
