What the hell was that tramway at the end, that dumps stuff into the
ocean. Every single location was astonishingly decrepit and
threatening. You are truly fortunate to live in such a picturesque locale.

that's a thing that used to be along the coast from here MANY years ago - getting rid of coal
diggings waste from one of the local coalmines. Carter and the other feller start their chase on
foot at The Staithes (the wooden structure on the river) and end it at that outfall a few minutes
and approx 20 miles later.

the region actually looks nothing like it was portrayed on film - although it WAS fairly grotty back
then, but still nowhere near as bad as it looked in Get Carter... except for Gateshead town centre,
which is still a concrete blight
