wtf? How cum the yanks were not prepared for the amount of voters that
turned out on tues?
I find this very strange.
I've never watied more than a few minutes to vote.
AND I've always voted later in the day, just like most other people with a
con-job. Yea I've waited for a few minutes, but an hour?
wtf is with hour long line ups?
wtf?
I think Canada always has a higher % of registered voters and a higher % of
voter turn out than our American neighbours.
BUT NO HOUR LONG LINES.
at least not that i have experienced or can remember.

Maybe because we have more that 2.6 people per square mile? Before I moved
away from the sticks, I never had to wait more than a few minutes. This guy
last night couldn't understand why he couldn't vote when he went to the
wrong polling place. He also doesn't seem to understand that the sole
purpose of companies is not to provide jobs.

You should see our voting facilities, they're ridiculous. I drove by my
polling place several times because there weren't even any signs indicating
such. The facilities for dog licensing and trash dumping permits are more
professionally set up than our voting facilities.

Anyway, I did finally find my polling place, located in a school. The voting
machines were confusing to use, but I'll admit they were fancy looking; all
chrome and white porcelain. I never did figure out how to select the candidate
that I wanted, so I just pulled the one lever that was there.

here in australia, we have compulsory voting. and we have it on the weekend.
we put numbers on pieces of paper and they get counted, they can even be
counted twice if need be.
i have never waited to vote.

but we still have a majority of morons who will vote for politicians whom
they know lie to them.

That's partly because Canadians vote for one person (provincial or federal
member of Parliament). Canadians elect a governernment to run things, and THEY
decide who's going to get the dogcatcher contract. Many USians were voting for
mayor, congressman, senator, local circuit court clerk, coroner, and oh yeah,
by the way, President. It's stupid, but garsh darn it, that's the way they've
been doing it all along, since time immemorial, for what, about 200 years?

On my local ballot:

President/Vice President.
Senator.
Represenative.
1 State Senator and 2 State Reps.
Governor.
Lt. Governor.
Seceratary of State.
State Auditor.
Attorney General.
Insurance Commissioner.
Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Commissioner of Public Lands.
4 of 9 State Supreme Court Justices.
About a dozen lower court judges.
County Executive.
County Prosecutor.
Plus about a half dozen extremely local civil service and party hack
slots.

(No dogcatcher; the local animal control people are a private
charity.)

Absurd as this first appears, this is only a third of the total
ballot: the rest is taken up by state and local ballot inititives of
various sorts...

"49 states and the Soviet of Washington".
