As I recall from my research, the trickiest part about trebuchet
design is getting the counterweight precisely weighted and balanced.

If not just right, one runs the risk of having the payload ascending
to the top of its arc, not leaving the sling and crashing straight
down on the assembled trebuchet (and its operators).

And if you can't obtain your own bloody heads, it's your own damn
fault. Plague-ridden bodies are a bit harder to find.
