Ya know John Kerry was on a fast boat crew,
and it just occurred to me that's what they need
in Iraq: more fast boats!

You know, what they really need in Iraq is some of them sand sailing boats
the Martians used in Martian Chronicles.

Or am I the only fart old enough to remember the TV adaptation with Rock
(suck the cock) Hudson and the other Brit fairy Roddy McDowell? Ray
Bradbury? Hello?

No.

The series was fairly faithful to the short stories.

It sucked.

That's OK! So does Iraq.

That only means your one of the science fiction intelligentsia. More would
probably draw a comparison to the Star Wars sand glider thingies (see how much
*I* care).

Considering the prominence of SUVs, the Next Big Thing will probably
BE vehicular so Them can sell more UNITS and never mind the magnified
horror of road-raging knuckleheads now FLYING, even at low altitudes.

However, its not unimaginable that Them would love to develop
teleporters and charge us out the yang per transit. Of course, in
typical Pink fashion, there would be Problems and people arriving with
their tits hanging from their cheeks due to buggy Windows FU software
running it all and many would dismiss the rules and bring their pet
guinea peegs in their coat pockets and come out looking like hairy,
mutant Buddy Hackett clones with whiskers and kids would show up in
Des Moines when they were destined for Chicago and 7 grannies would
arrive in one booth at rush hour and have to be crowbar'd out and the
lawyers would have a quintuple field day as companies pointed the
fingers at one another's overworked servers and feigned innocence and
hackers 'ported dead goats and dung to the Senate and Christ, what a
flarking mess.

Once they arrived, Kerry would say they were a good idea at first
because of their potential and then change his mind when it became
clear the tech was godawful and people would accuse him of
flip-flopping because he took the facts seriously and what the fuck do
people EXPECT, anyway??? Oh yeah, personal handjobs at every turn,
regardless of the realities. What a steenky planet.

i love that book, but i never saw the tv adaptation. I couldnt! Martian
Chronicles is an intergral part of my pyscho/philosophical makeup from the
fact i have read it soo many times, usually when sometime happened in the
world that scared me.

Actually, they *do* have an increasing number of
PBs on the Tigris and Euphrates, plus now they have
a fairly substantial coastal and oil facility
defense force on the Gulf.

Not too long ago, one of their river PBs lit up
some smugglers hauling a large cargo of munitions
in speedboats that made a BIG boom in the water.

Yeah, I'm not too surprised; they even have fast boats
on the Potomac River now. Not as fast as the Budweiser
Boat at the annual hydroplane races here, but I guess that
the boys are having a good time, and that's what really matters.
The tunnel-boats with helicopter turbines seem like fun!
I d/l'd a design program for boat hulls that does tunnel-boats.
