My friend B.T., I felt that same way myself, shortly after I joined the
Church. I wanted to do more than just sit here on alt.slack and make
in-jokes about "Bob" (I still do), I wanted to get out there and make a
difference. So I went off and started looking for trouble. Shortly
afterwards, I became involved in the war with the Sons of lron, as well as
the anti-spam battles of Usenet and the creation of the
soc.support.youth.gay-lesbian-bi newsgroup. And then, at the Devivals and
at X-Day, I've had the pleasure of meeting all you jokers in person. I've
enjoyed myself immensely in this Church, and right now I'm sitting back
and looking for the next good cause to catch my eye. (Besides tithing to
"Bob," that is.)

But that's just me. I'm not expecting anyone to get involved with causes
like this. You may prefer to rock-and-roll and make good music, or write
cool software, or run for office, or seduce your neighbor's wife, or plan
a media prank that gets you onto page 46 of the New York Times, or go to
Africa and join the Peace Corps. Slack is where you find it. As long as
you can save yourself and the ones you care about from the grip of the
Conspiracy, then there is truly Slack to be had in that.

I can't save the world, but I enjoy using what little skills I have to
encourage folks to save at least a little bit. As SubGenii we may never
bring down the Conspiracy (before the Rupture, anyways), but there's
nothing to stop us from doing something productive in our own small way.

So I guess all I can say is, if you're frustrated, then look to "Bob" to
give you a sign on what to do. If it means Schizming away, then do it!
But do what you have to, to get your own Slack. And keep waxing your
trout.
