THE ANTI"Bob"
Part I

by Fred Snietzsche

PREFACE
This story belongs to the most weird of men. Probably only
those who are still alive, as the dead ones have too short
an attention span. It is possible that the former may be
among those who understand my "Bob", but probably not.

Why should I confound myself with those who are only now
sprouting penii?--X-day should have come for me--and I am
getting impatient. Unfortunately, it seems that some men
are born posthumously, some achieve it in their lifetime,
and some must die to achieve it.

The conditions under which no one understands me, and
everyone misunderstands me--I know them only too well. Even
to endure my slackfullness--my passion--I must carry
intellectual vacuity to the verge of wackieness. I must be
accustomed to living on mountain tops--and to looking upon
the wretched gabble of politics and conspiracy as beneath me.

I must become indifferent; I must never ask of the truth
whether it brings profit to me or a fatality to someone else...
I must have an inclination, born of slack, for questions that
no one has the balls to ask; the courage for the forbidden
arts; predestination for the labyrinth of sexhurt. The
experience of seven solecisms. New ears for really bad music.
New eyes for what is most concealed in other people's business.
A new conscience for truths that nobody is particularly
interested in. And the will to overindulge in the grand manner
--to hold together my slack, my euphemisms...Reverence for
self; love of self; absolute freedom of self; self abuse...

Very well, then! of that sort only are my readers, my true
readers, my readers foreordained, those who actually spend
the time to read rather than just skip to the bottom to post
a smarmy one-liner reply. Of what account are the rest?--
The rest are merely merehumes.--One must make one's self
superior to humanity, in power, in loftiness of soul, in
contempt, in actually having sent in $30.
