Well, you can use the x program 'bitmap'... or you can use 'xsetroot
-pixmap <filename>'.... (i did this with Vulture of Light's and/or
glasser's "bob" icon and have a multitude of pipe-faced bobs smoking away
on my display background.... soon to be animated and/or colorized if I find
the time).
and of course it is possible to modify mh (or gnu's mh-e, or my super nifty
mail system) to look for a special bitmap header (or tailer) and pop up an
Xdisp... and then there's even Marshall Rose's face server modifications to
mh's show which can probly be further modified to display the bitmap
directly from the mail message..... and then there's always the andrew
mailer if you want to make your workstation oink and poot.
normally, i'd be called a nerd for saying all of that, however, this is a
mailing list from MIT.... yeah, i know.... quit my job, slack off, yeah
yeah....
let's post some bitmaps (pref X10), ok?
