Pat Robertson - Much worse than you thought

Edmund D Cohn is a former born-again Christian who is currently spending
his time exposing the more outrageous doings and sayings of the
preachers, particularly former US Presidential candidate Pat Robertson.
In an article in the Winter 87 issue of Free Inquiry, he describes some
of Robertson's more horrendous proposals. He's trying to make more
people aware of them, so I thought I'd help:

1) Pat Robertson proposes to have special "Christian Courts" in which
theologians will determine if a criminal acted under the direct command
of God, in which case his crime would be excused.

2) With a certain elegant symmetry, there would also be a special force
of "Christian Police", whose job would be to round up persons that were
going to be committing crimes in the future, again as per divine
revelation.

3) Robertson has also claimed that God on occasion orders the
destruction of an entire people for their sinfullness. This is in order
to keep Hell from being overpopulated by their descendents! He doesn't
give an explicit plan for translating this into policy.

Maybe it's part of a plot to make George Bush seem reasonable.
