In today's San Jose Mercury News:
One Edgar Whisenant, who claims to be a retired engineer for NASA,
is drawing a national following with books and broadcasts with
such titles as "On Borrowed Time: 88 Reasons Why the Rapture
Could Be in 1988". Here is one of Whisenant's calculations:
"On the importance of numbers in the Bible: From AD 28 when
Jesus revealed himself to the Apostles as the Son of God, we
have 28 AD + (7 x 280) = 1988, the Rapture of the church year.
Seven means complete and 280 means the gestation period of a human
child. Therefore, the numbers would say that the complete gestation
period of the church has been accomplished and the church is now
ready to be born into eternity in the House of god in Heaven."
The evidence is clearly overwhelming. Where do I sign?
