Black had a falling out with the Small Press Alliance because (I think)
he's a hardcore anarchist and didn't like all the rules. He also
saw it as becoming a meaningless group where the former have-nots
were becoming little Hitlers and the rest were using it as an
excuse to get drunk.
One of the SubGenii sent a letter to Bob's publisher using Bob's
stationary header that contained threatening remarks which Bob
had to deny. Since then there were threatening phone calls made
to Bob Black which he claims from De Vries, Donna Fossey (?) and
Fishmonger. Now already, I'm quoting from memory so I may be wrong.
Black has a letter sent to him from Fishmonger which basically says
"you will leave town" and some sort of gag order. There's also
been some court action. Black claims the SPA are a bunch of
squealers, etc. Black has been accused of defacing SPA posters which
he claims are abandoned property anyway and he has every right
to do what he wants with abandoned property.
In the letter Bob sent me with the skinny on his problems with SPA, he
said basically that he feels this is all in the past - he has aceded
to their wishes and left town (though he isn't allowing himself
to be "gagged"). And oh yeah, somewhere someone bought Stang into
this and Stang pretty much agreed with the Boston / SPAers that
Black was a raving paranoid alcholic even though Bob Black has
been supporting Stang for many years.
Please don't damn me for getting a detail wrong and just presenting
Bob Black's point of view because it's all I got.
I put the quote on the SubG board because it indirectly pointed out
some things that are wrong in SubG - stuff that STang even talks about
in the book - mainly about how the people getting involved are merely
dillitantes - not to imply that that's you or Dryfoo or anyone else.
