The latest Whole Earth Review has an article "The spiritual challenge
of living through the body", no doubt to be followed by an article
"The spiritual challenge of breathing" -- Does anyone have a choice,
eh?

Certainly the brand of Christianity represented by many Christia
contributors is pretty slackless. The only way I can tolerate reading
the stuff is under the slackful radiations of my Smokin' Bob windows
background.

As far as I can tell, most of these people have little interest in
trying to really figure out what the Bible says, unless it agrees with
their prejudices. They are willing to swallow that the Bible condemns
homosexuality in no unertain terms, but they aren't willing to swallow
that it commands women to a subordinate role. They certainly aren't
willing to accept Paul's advice that marriage is a good way to avoid
sexual sin as encouragement to teenagers to marry. Gak! What do you
do with people who you can't even have an intelligent conversation
with?

Perhaps this is the ultimate proof that although it is not logically
necessary that a Fundamentalist not think, it is *practically*
necessary.

My best efforts to stir up dissent by proposing we adopt traditional
Christian morality (early marriage, levirate marriage, using the State
to kill off proselytizers for false gods, etc.) have been ignored.

The only amusing anecdote resulted from when someone sent an
anti-homosexual message to Christia. The fact that it was described
by another Christian as "hate-filled" gives you an idea of its tone.
It appears that someone forwarded it to a Gay&Lesbian mailing list,
and the fellow was deluged with hate mail. What fun! It seems that
he is now off the air, because he is no longer working at whichever
university he posted from.

Zzzzzzzzzz,

Dale
