He could be. It's not that big a deal. People think that 33rd degree
Masons are the Illuminated Secret Masters, or something like that --
actually they're mostly retired insurance salesmen and the like -- upper
middle-class white men with a lot of time to devote to their fraternal
organizations.
BTW: The Scottish Rite degrees are supposed to be pretty cool,
historical and moral allegory with great costumes. (I'll probably even
get around to joining in the next year or two.) But it's not the kind
of thing RAW makes them out to be.
