Dear Mr. Rt. Rev. Wor. Dr. Y. Foo,
I sent ONE copy to agnostica. That's all. One copy, one address. If some
poxy brain damaged mail service somewhere between here and there decides to
personally and with malice aforethought persecute Dr. Foo by sending him 7
zillion copies of it, don't blame me. Blame the mail service. Blame
"Bob". Blame the [insert ethnic minority here] (everyone else does).
Blame Dan Quayle. Blame the Weathermen. BUT DON'T FUCKING WELL BLAME ME.
I expect Tim will back me up on this one.
Re: "Hugh, Tim, I don't want your apologies. Send me $50 each, instead."
Your cheque is in the post. Along with 6oz of semtex and a dog turd. As
for the apologies, well, just as well you didn't want them.
-- Rev. Wu Wei
PS. Don't take this personally, unless you enjoy that sort of thing.
PPS. If you think that seminar looks like a pretentious sucker, check the
latest one ...

PROJECT ATHENA PRESENTATION
On Thursday, September 28, the MIT Club of Northern California
is sponsoring a presentation on MIT's Project Athena. Project
Athena is MIT's ambitious and precedent-setting effort to link
virtually all of its students and faculty to a comprehensive
educational computing network. One of its goals was to
actively explore how to use computers more effectively for
education. Another goal was to advance the state-of-theart in
combining computers from various manufacturers into a network.
Both IBM and Digital Equipment donated substantial amounts of
equipment and technical resources to the project.
MIT Professor Jerry Saltzer will discuss the history and
technical aspects of Project Athena. Dr. Saltzer is a
recognized expert in the field of computer networking and was
the Technical Director for Project Athena during its critical
first years. This will be a rare opportunity to understand
some of the immense problems encountered in a project of this
magnitude and significance. This event is open to the public.
All proceeds are applied toward the MITCNC's scholarship and
summer work programs.
