It's published by MacMillan. The two more recent SubG books (High
Weirdness by Mail and Three-Fisted Tales) are published by Simon &
Schuster. These are major publishers so a bookstore should have no
problems ordering it.
The original, 1983 version of TBotSG was MacMillan, but Simon &
Schuster publishes another edition, ISBN 0-671-63810-6.

The original edition of the Book of the SubGenius was published by
McGraw--Hill, not Macmillan.
The first edition has better covers (reproduced in black-and-white
inside the newer edition). The newer edition has corrected prophecies
for the years between the two editions, and an appendix on the assassination
of the Dobbs (which supports the absurd multiple--gunman theory).
P.S.: It 's orthodox to schism
Schisms believe in heresies
=> To remain orthodox (even as the very Bobbies of the field)
is to schism.
Consider the Bobbies of the field
They toil ever, but get no [heat]
They being not For Play
They wear the shirts of ``Bob'', and our patience thin
Surely Glorps and Pinkbo'iz are not so pitiful as these
Ivan Stang has his [P.O.] Box
[And] the Doktors their practice shacks
Will not ``Bob'', who [despitheth] them,
And puts their Noises on the [ether] that we might [mock] Them
Provide more for you? [for a small consideration for his representatives]
Solely will he, yes, save that you lie [not] with the Bobbies
(But rather to them for the Big Sale his sake)
Excepting for thine own pleasure, or theirn own Degradation
Or if they be used for Food or Inebrient afterword
Surely Slack and Frop and other BusWords$^{(TM)}$ will be with you
Even on X-Day as on this day, and for all days
