Instead of the Big Apple, it should be the Big Wazoo. You can't get a
better setup than NYC has: the water is collected in huge reservoirs
upstate, where the only health hazards are low pH and beaver shit, and
then piped through (ancient) mains to the city. Waste water and sewage
is processed in the city and (usually) discharged offshore. There's
almost nothing NYC can do to screw up its drinking water.
Since every little burg from Troy on down pisses in the Hudson River,
there's not much more NYC can do to it. Manhattan is already hip-deep
in...well, some things are best left unsaid.
This is in contrast to, say, New Orleans. Isn't the saying there
something like, "Every glass of water in the Crescent City has already
been drunk six times"?
Flush and smile.

A light from the sky settled down in them trees
It left this wire in my head, and it customised me
The wire in my head, it advises me
Better living through bio--circuitry
The wire in my head, it makes me good deals
I drive a big, fancy, car and I eat good meals
You can bet I would kill any sucker who squeals
I 've got a wire in my head, and I _like_ how it feels
I 've got a wire for _your_ head, and I 'll install it for free
Better living through surgery
I 've got a wire in my head
Squeal and you 're dead.
