No, the subgenius list isn't on vacation. There's just been some
excess slack lately while the digest was moved to a new home. If your
contribution doesn't appear in this issue, the Con may have
intercepted it. Please resend any missing messages (and any
unacknowledged administrative requests).
This is the final issue of volume 1. The format will change slightly
starting with the next issue which uses the new, improved digestifier.

In Toccoa, Georgia this week protesters succeeded in in getting the city
and county departments of recreation to cancel classes on yoga as a form
of relaxation technique.
Their argument was that yoga relaxes the mind and that makes a person
susceptible to demonic influence and hence straight to Satanic worship.
They initially tried to argue that it was a rite in Far East religions
and as such should not be tought by a government body. However, the
director and the instructor had made sure when scheduling the class that
no mysticism or religion would be taught along with the yoga, just the
stretching and relaxation techniques.
The protesters were apparantly willing to cause and/or were causing such
a ruckus about the whole thing that the rec. depts. decided to cancel
the classes rather than endure the protestations.

I really love this part of the country and was looking forward to
staying her for awhile. But more and more idiots seem to be springing
up around here, most of the "fundamentalist" Christians who think that
freedom of religion applies only to _their_ religion, and that
separation of church from state doesn't mean Cristianity. I mean, I
can't even go to the hardware store on Sunday -- the purchase of
hardware is prima facia (sp) evidence that I intend to work on the
Sabbath, not to mention that the clerks would be working on the Sabbath.
Oh no can't have that....
